Rok was really into it, tricks left/right, plus a new one plus huge height on the double-up. He could have done all that on a EME1000 or any of the other top skis.

I agree...
Tommy's news is new to me now this morning... It's pretty sad that Bunn did that, but they have the right to if they want to.
I think they were just jealous of dual titles with the Rickter hull..

The Rickter hull looks space age to me. It makes a SJ looks lame IMO.

Darren, this is the smartest thing u have said to date!!! I agree with you 100%!!! Bad move on Bun's part!!!

so your saying that last years world champ doesnt have the skills to be out there in pro freestyle?
you guys have to be smoking some good chit if you dont think the equipment makes a difference at that level. if it didnt we would all still be rideing stock 440s. bun doesnt compete for bragging rights it is his job[/QUOTE]

No, what was said was that the top 3 handed the 2007 World Champion his 4th place finish. These guys got DQ'd because they were riding better equipment, 4th place guy complained. If there was not progression and invention then they would still be on 440's and 550's

and watch, next year they will show up with their own version of the hull, hell, they will have a copy in 2 months just like they did with the SR71.

More late breaking news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The APBA just announced a new rule for the 09 season in AM freestyle I and II competition.

If you weigh more than your superjet you will be dis-qaulified from comp!

This is good news for me, Chad and Ratti are gone to PRO, Harrison gets DQe'd due to the fat rule, so now it's just me and lil Jared. (and I can turn him over my knee and spank him if he beats me)LOL

That's so true BK! :bad:

Sucks that Bun protested, and all of this is going down so ugly. However, just like in other top racing sports where there are guidelines to make the competition fair for all who participate, this probably had to happen sooner than later for the people who write the books to wake up. This may very well result in some needed rule changes for freestyle. IMO I think in regards to freestyle any aftermarket hull should be allowed, in other words bring it if you got it! It's not a race, it's seeing who can pull the crazyiest chit.

The hull and motor rules should only apply to races IMO. Look at freestyle MX, there isn't any rules that I'm aware of for bikes to match eachother.

The silver lining in all of this is: I was at the finals , like most of you, and we saw how each ski performed. The RRP hull gave a small but nevertheless clear advantage to the riders, which in the end is what the large manufacturers look for when designing future ski's. We may be witnessing just what needed to happen for the sport to progress another notch performance wise.

My hats off to the crew at RRP and at X Metal/Scream for a job EXTREMELY well done!

seriously, everytime a company and/or riders take it to the next level in this sport some assf*ck is there to slap it down and make a big controversy till eventually everyone is pissed and the fun is gone from the sport.

another thing:
I went to Havasu thinking "man, I'm ganna really see what everyone was talking about this place and how cool it is" Not.... I left there a day early cause it was soooo boring. Now I understand less why they do a world event in such a sh*t hole, dust bowl... It's like being on the moon... dry, windy, dirty and remote...

Cocamo's was cool and seeing all my friends was what really made the trip... Other than that... You can see everything in about 1 hour, then you are just walking in circles trying to figure out what to do w/ yourself... I would think after 30 years this event would be more organized and more interesting...

When the guys are racing, you can't tell where the track is and there is no leader board telling you who anyone is... It's like you would have to know every racer to know how to follow the race. The runabout were very immpressive w/ their speed, but w/o a leader board or some type of score board it's just people out there doing circles... THe announcers were good, Mike always does a great job, but they can't tell you everything, that's why you should have something up there for people to read.

Pro should be unlimited mods w/ no restrictions. But according to the rules BUN should have won......what sucks is lenzi got screwed a few years ago b/c they overruled his protests about Malone's boat. Pro class should be open so all the aftermarket companies can push the envelope with their products to make the best possible ski. Create a open venue where the best riders in the world ride the latest machines in the world. Sort of like F1 racing.

All this is the last thing I want to hear before I compete next year. It sounds like to me that as much as this sport acts like it is organized it is not. I hate sports were the rules are always changing

if you want to keep this sport popular and interesting letting the riders go all out with whatever they can think of.
they should be dq'ed though. who they think they are??

We have all been on here bitching about the IJSBA and its judging of freestyle for several years now. Why doesn't somebody with promotional skills start a new sanctioning body for a totally seperate string of events? Have the minds of the sport collaborate and set up guidelines, secure venues and court the media. There are several on here with the passion, ability, respect, know how and means to set a new standard.

The surf guys put together a world tour and it has been growing each year.

What happened to pre-race TECH INSPECTION? You would think that the officials would have picked up on that "new hull" issue. It's just more IJSBA BS!

I do not believe that they do a pre-tech like they do with racing... And with racing, it is not tech to see if your illegal, it is a safety check. They check for loose cables, hoses. Intake grates that stick down too much. They are not checking to see if your cheating. Post race is where they get down to the nitty gritty of the engine.

Seems fair to me. They broke the rules & got caught. :dunno: Otherwise, why have rules to begin with?
I'd bet BUN did not show to awards ceremonies because they were not crazy about winning only because the other teams cheated.
Why be down on BUN? Why not be down on Roy & Malone for being on supermodified bottom hulls that they knew were illegal? Come on, they had to know, they've read the rules!
