Lanier/riot/ronny ride 2010 ??

What, no build-off, no sickest trick, etc? :bs2:

You can do all that stuff, but I see that as more of a bonus than mandatory. I loved the buildoff and what it brought. It was fun seeing new things and then trying it out myself. All that stuff is cool and entertaining IF someone is willing to do the work to put it together.

Hey Steve, you sure first weekend in May is late enough? I seem to remember last time the water was COLD.....of course I was living in FL at the time and anything cooler than bathwater seemed cold..

it was FREEZING in general.....I remember forgetting our blankets and having to sleep fully clothed (including jacket) and covering up with a piece of carpet until Adrian loaned us a heater for our tent.

Exactly! let's put the free back into freeride. I vote for the Altoona campground. They welcomed us last time and probably would do so again. Lanier is not too crazy about loud and drunk jet skiers!:scared:

As for the dates, the first weekend of May sounds great!:fingersx:

Kinda ironic, I got pounced on for making those same comments!!!!!!!! "put free back into freeride" - No Vendors, Raffles, Buildoff's. etc. Just show up and ride.

Okay whiners - 60 degrees is NOT cold, mkay?
60 Degrees is when it's time to ditch the wetsuit.

"Cold" is anything below 40.

as it has already been said....just name the weekend and everyone will show up.

Raffles, all that mess are just extra and unnecessary.

Lanier is a good central location....which is why it works better than say Lake Martin. I love Lake Martin but it isn't really even worth the drive for me and I live in the same state.

the sff was my first freeride. i showed up with a built 650 sx and thought i had something to talk about. boy was i ever wrong. i met a lot of nice people, had a great time and also learned alot that weekend. it didnt take long to ditch the 650 after that ride. i would definately be all for riding there again. im as close to it as i am cullman so its a win win situation for me.

How is the humidity there in the winter?

You hear talk of it in the summer here, now try to imagine it when it is cold out side. In the summer it makes if feel hotter, in the winter the opposite.

Humidity is about the same year-round. The coastal weather is real similiar year-round, too. In other words, temperatures and humidity (immediately near the coast) don't change much over the year.
So yes, temps in the summer aren't that hot, but it's not that cold in the winter, either.

Lake Martin was good enough for Sea Ray to throw its signature event here,Aquapaollza biggest on the water party of all time,if its not good enough for some here to show up its fine by me ,you have no idea what you are missing,it will just remain what it was last year a small group of peeps riding and thats always fine by me............

Terry, believe it or not, we use to have about 3 rides at Lanier each year, no planning other that a post "Hey, who wants to meet next week". We would have people from Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina. Oh, at least 30 people each ride.

It takes no planning, no effort, no BS. Just show up.

hell i drove 9 hours to hang out with you guys for the weekend... that was my first time meeting alot of people from the atlanta and upper alabama area

The SFF was also my first freeride and so far the best big ride I have attended,Daytona is not my thing, too big ,too crowded, etc etc.I am going to have to one up you though Cliff,I showed up with a 550 in pieces literally,I put it back together Sat morning and rode it all weekend,it really amazed me how many people came by offering to help me get it going.I also rode Crammits boat for the first time there,I still owe him payback for that one,I have been on a quest for more and more power ever since.:1244:
