Well after a crazy last couple of weeks I finally graduated from college! What a relief!!!

Here's a final pic of the FSAE car before getting back into the jet ski stuff. Overall we had a good time racing but battled to pass noise and missed some dynamic events as a result, had a wheel get cracked and then ended up busting the chain during the final event. Body looked good though and had some positive feedback on it!

Started getting back to work on the hull earlier today. Found some more issues, but it is what it is...

There was a single layer of kevlar throughout the engine bay and I discovered that it was not bonded very well. Started picking at it and pulled it up around some of the mounts and under the kevlar and some glass I found wet foam that appears to have been used to level out the bottom of the hull for the scuppers. Wondering if water got in through the holes for the mounts and after freezing through the winter opened some of this stuff up...anyways I basically just went crazy and ripped out anything that was ugly or not adhering properly. Too bad I wasted a bunch of time prepping the engine bay before for reinforcement, could have spent that time ripping all this crap out! Oh well...just a little more stripping to do and it will be time to start fresh. I also pulled the exhaust tube out and I'm planning on running new cooling lines. Thinking about ditching the scuppers as well and just cutting out the channels for them and glassing over the openings in the bulkhead.

Wow thats one hell of a chop, why it get locked

I was going to have it deleted in order to start a new one with fresh progress, but the boss man wanted to keep it around just for information purposes so I decided to just keep it all together.

The chop starts at 3.5" on the inner top edge and increases to 5" on the inner bottom edge with a 1" taper to the outside.

Ran out of cutoff wheels for my dremel so I'll have to grab some more tomorrow and finish the other side. After that I need to finish pulling the rest of the kevlar reinforcing out of the nose and the bottom of the tray area.

looking good

Thanks dude!

Still have to finish cutting the other side but I spent some time cleaning out my garage today and stripped everything else from the scuppers out from the bottom of the tray. Hopefully after a couple more hours of work Ill be able to start prepping for new material to get laid down. I decided I'm not going to do the rocker after all, too many setbacks and I'm eager to get on the water.

Once you get an edge lifted most of this reinforcement pulls right out. Its almost like the surface wasnt prepped for anything that was put in after the decks were bonded. The base layup for each deck is really solid, except the top deck is on the thin side.

Thanks man! Time management killed us but it turned out pretty good. Whats your major?

I'm finishing up my Master's in Information Systems. I am on the nerdy side of the campus lol, and don't get to play in the fun engineering shops/classes.
