Finally got out of the house today. I was in a really bad car accident with a friend of mine friday night and was released from the hospital sunday. Woke up this morning and decided I had enough of the pain killers and sitting on my ass. Grabbed some more cutting discs for the dremel but then realized it might not be the brightest idea to risk getting an infection so I took on a different task and started to make a quick ride plate mold. Going to try getting some glass laid on it tonight.

Popped the mold today. I had a feeling I was going to fight a little bit of die lock so I pulled the ride plate out before I finished reinforcing the mold. I will have to open up the tail area a bit and once the plate drops in and out easily I will add some more structure to the back. This was kind of just a quicky mold anyways so depending on how this goes if I get a clean part out of it I might make a better one based off the new part.

What u use for your mold

Since it was just a quicky I used a poly resin and body filler milkshake for a couple face coats and backed that with a few layers of glass. It will probably only last for one or maybe two parts but I figure its cheap and the face coats make it easy to surface and tweak a little. I also waxed the tape and used mold release to help it release easier.

Been pretty busy following up with doctors and my dentist so I havent gotten much done. Still more follow ups to do and right now best case scenario is to return to work after next week, but I was just informed earlier today that I might be laid off for a few more weeks. Oh well, more time to work on the ski. Lol

Planned on assemblying the motor today after recieving some more goodies from JetManiac but at the last minute I decided I'm going to have the bed plates powder coated. I have a friend that lives just a few miles away and runs a powder coating business so I'm going to drop them off sometime tonight. In the mean time I added some hose barbs :bananajump:

Still waiting on an intake manifold, reeds, battery box, footholds, exhaust tube and then completion of the hull. Going to try working on the ride plate more next.

Did some surfacing on the ride plate mold. I got it up to 220 grit and shot some black paint on it to help bring out the highlights. Need to smooth out a couple spots and then get it up to 400 grit and it should be ready.

Thanks dudes, and yep put the motor together in the kitchen! Lol

Finished up the ride plate mold today and also managed to strip the last of the reinforcing out of the nose and finish the cuts on the rear.

The material in the nose was suchh a pain in the ass to get out! Glad thats over, now I have to sand down the entire inside and move on to the fun stuff. Oh yea, I also decided to go back to the original plan of rockering the nose (will I just make up my mind already?!?!?). I would rather not rush this thing since I already have so much time invested. Thinking about picking up a square nose to ride that I could eventually hand over to my girl.

Laid down 4 layers of carbon and 2 layers of biax into the ride plate mold today. Wish I had a roller on hand but I think it still turned out pretty decent, Ill see once I get it pulled out and trimmed.
