Lightweight Freeride SXR

Lipo sounds a little scary.

Check out the xtreme part # xtaz10s.

Its just less then 7lbs, and has great cranking amps. Idok has had great luck with his, in the last year he has never put a charger on it, and it has never died on him.

I think its about $80.

I think maybe you guys are getting confused with the LIPO batteries that are used in RC planes. They require a special charging circuit that would require an extra module to charge it in a ski. There are LIPO batteries out there that have all the circuity built into them so they can be charged by a normal charging stater. They are mostly used in motorcycles and weigh as little as 12oz with 300+ cranking amps.

.......

i would think if they can withstand the beating you can put on them w/ a 450F a ski wouldnt be much different.......
any ski w/ a fuel tank in it is a floating bomb

Finished removing everything from the stock hull today. I spent some time cleaning the package tape glue from the new hull and took a few pictures of it.

Update:

I got the battery today. This thing is sweet! It has 300+ cranking amps and weighs just under 12oz!

IM waiting on the weather to warm up enough so I can start spraying paint. IM going with a jet black urethane basecoat/clearcoat sprayed over a few coats of epoxy primer.

My Trinity hood should be here by the end of the month.:woot:

Shot the primer on the new today. IM suprised how glossy it is. IM haft tempted to sand it flat and clear over the epoxy primer. Here are some really bad cell phone pictures of it.

that is shinny.

what paint are you using?

I bought the black primer thinking it would be flat black but I guess I was wrong. The pictures above are what the primer looks like after 3 hours of dry time.

The Epoxy Primer is from TCP Global Kustom Shop

The paint IM using is from Trinity Automotive Paints. Urethane Basecoat and Urethane Clearcoat.

why did you paint the tray?? you just have to sand it off to turf anyway.

What colors are you going with?

I only have primer in the tray, I won't spray the tray with the top coats.

Everything is going to be black except the turf because IM cheap. I was also thinking about spraying the hood with color changing paint like the old hotwheels cars that changed color when you put them under warm water. They make it in black that changes lime green.

that would be pretty cool, you should do the whole ski in this hotwheels car color. However did you check the price on that stuff? I cant imagine it being cheap.

Lightweight hull, lipo battery, I don't think the TaterStick is too concerned with cost. :Banane09:

I can't imagine trusting that little battery in waves but kick arse if it works!! Wow! Tiny!

Am I missing where you are cutting weight? oops nevermind....Trinity hood...

I still need to weigh the handpole. The sock one is lighter than I thought it would be when I picked it up, but the stock hand pole spring holds the bad attitude pole straight up. I will have to tie it down when it is on the trailer. I will get some real numbers soon on the weights between the handpoles.

The weigh savings of that battery and trinity hood are almost equal to the wamiltons hull. The hood is about 8lbs and the battery only weighs 11oz.

Here is a video link to a battery with the same technology. I did take my battery into work and installed it in my jump box for fun. To my surprise it did jump start a 2007 Saturn Aura! :bananajump: The battery in the video is about 3 sizes bigger than the one I got, but IM also not carnking a 1300cc V-twin engine for 5 minutes.
