Custom/Hybrid List of hull builders that stand by there products

I'm curious as to which hull builders stand by there work and offer any kind of warranty on there work? (defects, bad layups, ect..)

I'm not trying to start a flame war about what hull is better, I just think this would be good information for potential buyers

Lmao. Here we go. Better to ask what hull builders do you not have to warranty work done, much better question to me.Who wants to take their new car to the shop a bunch. I'll start, Bullet Racing, beat it up with no issue. No gel issues or structual. Trinity,Daniel worked it over and then so did I. Lawn darts in the shallow Surfside surf etc. No issues what so ever, everytime I removed the tray plug air rushed out with no water. In all fairness BSM painted it and should be credited for the exterior looking nice after abuse. No needed warranty from Bullet or Trinity. BOB did'nt ride it enough cuz I hated it. WDK ROk,nevver rode it because I got injured, but WDK parts I've used have had no issues.

If this doesn't count lmk and i'll edit my post.

But Steve (Trendsetterz/ Backie Chan) has commited to replacing my hull because of a issue with the gel coat. He has stayed in touch with me and we've agreed that i'll ride what I have through the end of the season and he'll send my replacement during the winter/ before the end of the year.

I guess since it hasn't actually taken place I guess someone could call BS, but considering this forum is the only place he advertises, and he committed to doing it in front of god and everyone... I expect that it will happen.

Thanks for your valuable input.

And your edit still doesn't address the OP's question about builders that offer a warranty, just your personal experience with 4 hulls. Just because you've owned a part that didn't fail, it doesn't mean the next one out the door from the same mfg was perfect.

If you are after a flawless, no prep before painting hull, may not be your first choice. But if you want awesome performance and a hull that will stand up to some abuse, then SF is a great choice. I dont know what the 'warranty' is, but in my experience they will fix any problems that may arise. My experience is only with the all carbon hulls, have owned 3 now.

Warranty work is great if you need it. However, offering a "warranty" to me means nothing if you are down 3 mos waiting or have to tear your crap apart and rebuild it over and over again.
I think most hull builders will stand behind their products to an extent, getting the fix is usually more of a pain than fixing the issue yourself though.
Buikding something strong and worthy of the punishment it will take is the key. Here is what I have seen in the recent past. These are based ONLY on what I see, you asked!
Carbon ROK, broke 2 fairly quickly as they were made using a new to Jeff product and process. I repaired them both and was sent a glass hull kit as payment for my time.
Glass ROK built many and seen many beat on to where any OEM would have been destroyed and these things are INCREDIBLY STRONG
Carbon Freak strong light hulls, few little issues like inserts used are week and the bonline in rear should be stronger but over all a super strong hull so far. Recomend them for sure.
Rickter FS2 and XFS, gorgeous heavy hulls, strong but the finish tends to fail. I do not beleive there is a structural warranty but if it comes in damaged they will make it right.
Q8 incredibly strong and light glass hull period
KDX carbon, Amazing how strong these seem to be for how light they are, definately some high end materials used here and definately the right mix of resin vrs material.

These are the ones I have owned or ridden and been around enough to know. As far as warranty, all I can say is that it will be a HUGE inconveniece to have to use.

Personal experience:

WDK hood that I bought second hand. I posted on here that I had troubles with the liner separating. Jeff read about it on here and sent me a pm offering to fix it. I declined, as I needed the hood to ride and couldn't afford the time to send it anywhere, let alone to him. Still, great offer.

My SF hull had a couple of issues over my two years of owning it. The little battery tray tore out within two rides and 18 months later one of the motor mount insert bars broke out of the hull. Tem was always easy to get a hold of and sent me repair materials as well as giving me plenty of time on the phone to guide me with the repairs. Neither issue was big enough of a deal to send the hull back, but I could rely on him standing behind his product.

I'm moved by DASA power!
I have had Tem warranty a hood, same with another of my friends (waveblaster 785 on here) It took a little while to get the replacement hood, but it was the off season so no big deal. I too have the issue with the motor mount bars wearing out, Ed has had a failure exactly like matt did. **** BUT **** we beat the living crap out of our skis every weekend and we punish our skis more than most on this site. (maybe not the west coast surf guys, but they actually land a lot of their tricks), I dont. I cant thank Tem enough for spending the time to design such a good all around ski. It took my level of riding farther than I ever thought I would go and I am still learning. Now that I sound like a real fanboy, and I have been on the receiving end of Tem's warranty hood, he definitely did me right. Much like Rhaas did with his motor mounts, of which I am on set 5 (just to give you an idea of how hard I am on unbreakable stuff).

Buckwild, "Fanboy" is a term used by people who don't want to hear how happy you are with ____ builder LOL... I'm glad that you've had good luck with TEM, its important to know what kind of service people can expect after the sale with any vendor.

x2 on the good thread XJ.

I guess i didn't mention this about the Backie Chan, Steve offers a one year warranty against manufacturing defects. So to Brian's point, if you lawn dart it... good luck with your repair!
But if it comes apart when it shouldn't, he has a time specific full replacement warranty. Which is freakin nuts IMO in a sport that beats so hard on hulls, but i'm glad he has it.

EME offers in the Prorider Mag 1 year (it might even be "if your not completly satisfied" but ill have to find a mag to double check that one)
I love seeing builders stand behind there product. Great post xj
