I hate to be that guy, but there can be a big difference between a stated "one-year warranty" and "total satisfaction guarantee" and reality.
Has anyone actually broken an EME hull and communicated with EME about it?
I have not either but I know a guy in Chicago that had his seperate at the bondline and it was FIXED but took some time as expected, hense what I am saying about hull warranties, the key is not to buy the hull with the best warranty but to buy one that limits the possibility of needing a warranty. I.E., BUY SOMETHING PROVEN AND SLEEP WELL.
If you buy something not proven then I strongly suggest getting the details on WHAT HAPPENS IF .................................. carved out before $ is sent. I am not bashing any NEW BUILDERS HERE. But lets face it, Most of these hull builders are not "COMPOSITE ENGINEERS" there is trial and error involved. I KNEW the carbon ROK hulls I was buying were a new layup and not proven and I knew if they broke I was screwed for a while. But, I also knew the glass hulls were bullet proof and I knew whatever happened to the carbon ones I could and would fix them propper and they would be good to go again.
People do not post the bad here until or unless there is no resolve with the builder. Simply because you dont bite the hand that feeds you. If your waiting and wanting warranty work then the last thing you want to do is piss off the guy holding your nutsack in his hand while you WAIT for resolve. I know of horror storries that never made it to these boards for that reason.
Buy proven parts (including hulls) or know the potential risk and resolve up front is all I can say. A builders warranty is really not what you want to purchase, its a product that will most likely not need the warranty. Although having one is an added bonous, just not something I would buy based on. WDK has a warranty, he will prolly stand buy it someday, but I assure you that you will need a backup plan until that day comes. Tem I know will fix your hull if it breaks, but you have to get it to him, he has to fix it and you have to get it back and reassemble it all things that take time, money and work. Break a Rickter while riding it and GOOD LUCK. But again, both of these hulls as well as others have track records of being dependable for the most part. KDX's and Q8 have proven track records as well. Backy Chan and others that are new (again, not bashing at all) do not yet. So you have to weigh that against the cost and potential risk and be ready for the potential down time (IE keep your old hull)
