Looking for 1st dirt bike.

This is the combo Mark and I are looking at-orange of course.

http://www.slyfoxmx.com/pd-2009-thor-phase-combo.cfm

We are going to go with Troy Lee Helmets. The guys on KTM talk rated that helmet along with Shoei and Arai the top helemts.

I am looking at some Fox Racing boots on ebay but they are my size-now I am worried they may not fit..

Yup we are getting all the pads, knee, elbow, chest protectors. I am trying to get the expensive and ABSOLUTELY necessary things first such as boots and helmet.

if you have one, go to Cycle Gear or a motorcycle shop and try on all the boots... Some fit better for certain people... I don't recommend buying boots used or from online unless you have tried them on... they need to be comfortable and fit right to work properly.. I got a HJC helmet for a good price... not the top of the line by any means, but works well and is comfortable

I have these pants and they kick ass:

nothing wrong with the Thor Phase gear. Phase is Thor's entry level stuff, the high-end stuff is their Core line. Ive rocked a Phase combo many a time, nothing but love!

The pants come with the velcro hip pads which are important if youre just learning. you will fall down eventually and every piece of padding is gonna help!

some minor tips.... take 2 alleve every time before you go riding, and 2 right after.. helps your recover quicker. try to eat some bananas and drink plenty of fluids before and during your rides. a good spaghetti dinner the night before goes a long way too!

welcome to two wheels.. youre gonna love it!

the same-color-bike/same-color-gear thing wears off after a while. i go out of my way now NOT to match with my bike. hahaha.

We will look so cute in matching outfits and bikes............

don't do it... you will feel like a kook riding around... get neutral colors, you will thank me. Not saying you will look stupid, but wearing gear like that on the street looks kinda goofy. The more you can tone it down the better.
:439:

Thats what I like about the over the boot pants... they are a little less MX looking and you can wear them when you go for a spin around the block like normal pants...

LOL good thing for us!

we talk about this at the track alot and get a good laugh out of it.

in jetskiing, you can show up in shredded shorts, a beatup life vest, and duct tape all over your rattle-can painted ski and be THE MAN.

in mx, your gear better be clean, starched, and flawless. your helmet and boots have to be sparkling, and your 1-3 yr old bike can't have a spec of dirt on it!!!!! you gotta be spotless!!

when i race, i bring a change of gear for the 2nd moto and wash my bike between motos.. you better believe it!!!!!!
:dunce: :veryhappy: :scared:

I always thought it was better to have a bike that looked like it had been ridden vs the bike that is the track queen. you know, the bike that never actually hits the track!!!!!:Banane36::AR15firing::bananalama:

LOL J/K

We had a friend who's KDX220 was like that, he never showed up to ride with a spec of dirt on it!!!!!!!!

motocross is so gangster, you gotta ride clean on 19's son.

you just cant show up like a busta with clapped out gear. aint right.

unless youre faster than the guy laughing at you, then you can do whatever you want.

I thought the bike was expensive LOL...gear is getting just as bad. I found some helmets on closeout so that is good but dang 15 dollars here and there is starting to add up!

Check out Bikebandit.com's closeout section, but call when you order. Easy to score some $25 gloves on sale for $6 and $180 boots for $90. Shipping is always a cool $7.95. :Banane35:

check it:

I just through bolted it to the fender w/ SS hardware. I think I used 1/4"-20...

btw - Hydro Turf sells nice seat covers.... You can get them in multiple colors and materials. I got the non skid material and helps keep ya on the seat...

Cool thanks I will do the same.

Katie's bike we are getting on Saturday has an after market seat. I want to try that out because mine is tough as nails and really rubbed me after a few hours of riding but then again maybe I just need to get use to it.

KTM's are known for hard seats.... some people soften them up.
