Looking for 1st dirt bike.

We will both have 200's probably by next weekend. We rode for a few hours today and we are really getting the hang of this dirt bike thing. Katie has done 3 wheelies and counting.:arms:

We had a blast and we are beat to death time for bed!

I will post pics of Katie when I get back from Chicago Tuesday.

Mark44

awesome find and I'm stoked for you guys... 2005 is a great year for KTM's
lots of good changes were made for that year. Can't wait to see pictures!

I am meeting the guy Saturday for mine. Mine is also a 2005 KTM 200. It has a few extra goodies like pipe guard, skid plate, bark busters, soft gel seat. A KTM engineer owned it so it comes with an extra factory fender and radiator covers. It does come with a flywheel weight which I probably will want that off. I didn't have any problems riding Marks without it. I might keep it on when I go test for my motorcycle license and then take it off.

Only trouble I had was starting it but I already got the hang of it.

It was a lot of fun. We haven't rode too hard. I really want the protective gear-especially a helmet before I really rip it. So far its a blast!

DO NOT RIDE W/O BOOTS!!!!! Get a decent pair of Alpine Stars or something...

I would recommend:

Helmet
Boots
Gloves
Knee pads/shin pad combo
moto x pants that fit outside the boot
and a decent moto x shirt. they have good protection and will save your elbows a little.

all those extras you got are definitely things you need, good find!

nice helmet DOT approved. again.....a NICE helmet!

goggles

gloves

CHEST PROTECTOR!(you'll thank me when you go over the bars....)

elbow pads, knee/shin guards(skateboard ones will work, not great, nice set of thor or 661's)

Motocross gear(shirt, pants. dont get pants that go over your boots, you'll look like a goon. they get caught on crap ie pegs and kickstart, theyll burn on your pipe, and if you fall feet first they can slide up your legs and give no protection.)

if your going to be ridding on the street PLEASE get leathers.......

Boots(Alpinstars......there the best hands down.)

do not skimp on gear......if you dont have the right gear than dont even ride.

PERIOD.

and wear all your gear EVERYTIME you ride, even if you just gonna goof off....cuz thats when you fall.
Safety first.

Both bigger and smaller. If you have a place locally go in and try several styles/sizes on. I had a hard time finding a pair that gave me the ankle support needed. (toes up!) Alpine's are an awesome boot but I could not get the fit I needed and ended up with Fox Forma's. Most of the upper end boots will give you the protection you need so it comes down to fit. And Buckles....

the buckles on the tech10's suck. for such an expensive boot, youd think theyd be built better. i love my tech 8's tho. my next boots will be gaerne sg12's.

This is the combo Mark and I are looking at-orange of course.

http://www.slyfoxmx.com/pd-2009-thor-phase-combo.cfm

We are going to go with Troy Lee Helmets. The guys on KTM talk rated that helmet along with Shoei and Arai the top helemts.

I am looking at some Fox Racing boots on ebay but they are my size-now I am worried they may not fit..

Yup we are getting all the pads, knee, elbow, chest protectors. I am trying to get the expensive and ABSOLUTELY necessary things first such as boots and helmet.
