this one is front side- i used to only slash that way but since i started backside, i cant slash frontside anymore. backside is way better though

If you ask me watching other peopel is a good way to learn how to do a trick, but not the best for improving style. If everyone did tricks the same way then where would the style be?

here are my slashs from daytona. they're getting better but still not where I want them.

I need to turn my hips, raise my elbows, extend my legs, pic better wave sections...

a lot of it is style but what makes the difference is timing IMO. the reason taylor and andrew can slash so well is that they can time the waves perfectly from years of surfing. timing is my biggest problem.

I haven't seen a single pic of me slashing from Daytona and that's what I was doing 70% of my riding, go figure. I'm just not pretty enough I guess.

If you have a copy of Jet Waves, that's an awesome one for slashes with Scott Watkins and Jeff Kantz doing some nice ones.

I saw a lot of people in Daytona approach a wave and do a quick turn and blast a shot of nozzle spew at the wave........I didn't get this. They really didn't even touch the wave, just sprayed at it. Is this considered a trick?

From the pics above, that doesn't seem like what you're looking for but I was wanting to understand why people were doing that.

it's more of a surfing manuver. you roll up the face of the wave and just as you reach the peak you make a sharp cut back turn throwing spray from the lip.
