it is a small bright spot on the most somber, gut wrenching event i can remember, to see how this thread is beginning to embody what the sport is all about.
kevin was living it. we are living it.
we will never understand what happened, why it happened, or what could have been done differently. we can certainly learn from it... with experience comes confidence in our wager against nature. we can NEVER forget what might have been or should have been. watch out for our crews, wait for our crews, take no chances no matter how often we've done them.
what we can do now is show support. show the community that kevin wasn't alone in this. show his family that we would do nothing short of saving him if we could. we are the few people, like many sports, that understand why kevin went out there. be sure your crews know what is being organized if they don't know or aren't on the boards. every thought counts.
i liken this sport to motorcycles... no one forgets a lost rider. patch your vests, apply your stickers, make your tshirts, and organize your memorial rides.
we also need to think of something to do with wave rave... bruins led this up the past couple years and i think it would be respectful to continue it in his remembrance.
