The styrofoam stays dry and or drips out after every ride. That's the one reason I hated to foam in my footholds. With the open tray design, they should not hold as much water, I hope. The SXR is supposedly 140-155 lbs to start with so I don't want any more weight than I already have.

Hey Matt when you weighed it the first time was that with the Tubbies on?

Good thinking...no tubbies, either.

I plan on pulling all turf (including rails), all remaining hardware, motor mounts, etc, off, and re-weigh.
Even with Tubbies, paint, and front exhaust, the total shouldn't have risen more than 15lbs.

No they were not on then.

He also changed foortholds since then so there might be a little extra glass and resin there too

Hull Weight

I weighed the 98 hull I got from Mike W last night.
Hull was 131# with turf and long exhaust tube and stock pole.
The stock hood came in at 19.0#

All on the digital bathroom scale.

Matt, here is what I may stuff back in mine, availiable at the local lumber yards in rolls. I would still do drain plugs and perhaps inject some foam just behind the footholds but not on the bottom. It is apparently polyethelene closed cell foam.

If you are going to try something different try styrofoam, you can even calculate how much you need to float your SJ. Plus Kawasaki already did the R&D for you!
