That wouldn't be my digital bathroom scale would it? If so let's not tell Kara it's being used to weigh a ski or that it is not in my bathroom :sneaky:

No, my scale. The one you gave me is in need of batteries.

I took most of the turf off, all remaining hardware, and the front exhaust tube.
Weight is 149lbs bare hull

I cut out one foothold/side of the tray and started defoaming.

Definitely f'n wet in there. The footholds leaked. ********ty install job I recon.

Happened this year. I didn't seal the footholds well enough. I need to do some major glass work.

hey, i have a great idea! why not put ping pong balls in place of the foam?!?!?!

I know someone who did that. They bought up all the ping pong balls at every dollar store in NJ. I think over 200 went into the hull along with a little foam.
I still think styrofoam is the way to go. Kawi's got there act together.
What about packaging peanuts?

They dissolve.

I am not sure if I'll go foamless or not.
The little bit of defoaming I did so far shows that the one-way leaked, and the footholds.
The sides of the ski are very flexible without foam support. I am leery about that.

I cut the stock liner out (6lbs).
I am probably going to lower it, and install my own liner.
I will also reinforce it.

With all the reinforcements that ski has what about using a lighter foam, maybe a 2# or even a 1# foam? Since you are starting this project now (instead of two weeks before a surfride) you should have the time to seal up everything properly.

Did some more work. That thing is soaked to the bone.
I took out a lot of foam, most of the left side and the front, and the one way.
It now weighs in at 132lbs (including the cutout foothold)

I should lose weight in the hull, that's what. :bigok:

Not only that, my biggest performance mod this winter will be losing some fat off my fatass.
I gained weight something awful.....I am at 205.5lbs.
I'm A FATASS!!!

205... that's not bad. I used to be around 175 lb now I am around 225! So basically I need to lose 50 pounds. That's not helping my poor little 650 X2 get any air.

Holy crap, did you take a chain saw to it with a blindfold on? JK, your ahead of me, all I got off was one lord mount so far. Whats your plan to strengthen the sides and put back the shape for the inner sides and tray? It almost seems to me you will need to foam it and shape it. My thoughts are some polyethelene sheets lining the bottom tray up just short of the bond line as a filler, then regular expanding foam above that. the sheets will not soak up any water and should keep water from wicking up to the expanding foam. I still would install some drain screws. Was the center section above the pump inlet also wet?
