mcdog's freestylin' 96 roundnose(new graphics)

Hey everyone, my name is Shane, and I'm addicted to Superjets.

This is my 96 RN that I bought this time last year. It was completely stock, but here's what I already did:
13/15 3mm cutback Solas Concord from Impros.
Wetwolf cone.
Taped over holes in the hood.
Twin 360 Rule bilge pumps.
Hydroturf lifter wedges.
Kenney Keepers.
Worx 201 intake grate.

Here is what I plan to do:
Reinforce hull/defoam
I guess I have to do some painting since the stock graphics took the paint with them on the hood.
Jetnetics flywheel.
Riva girdled head with 35cc domes.
B pipe.
MSD Enhancer.
Waterdawg REV footholds/returf.
Highroller front foothold.
I got black bumpers to replace the purple ones.
Sealing the stock hood with caps.
0 degree umi bars.
RIVA billet coupler.
Dual cooling.
One way valve install.
Cut handlepole 4 inches( I'm 6'2).
I might put handholds in the hood since I have to paint it anyway.

My computer fried so I lost my before pictures but here is where I am now.
I've still got a lot of contact cement to remove, what a PITA!

Cut the pole and got the glue off the tray. What a labor intesive PITA. Thanks Mike for the permatex advice. I think it was 30% permatex and 70% elbow grease.

Check out the horrible job I did cutting my tray. I broke the dang tile cutting bit on the green glue. I have NO WATER in my foam. I'm still getting it all out so I can install a one way valve.

I also have a dilemma about what to do with my right foothold. The exhaust pipe is in the way and it looks like it will have to go so far back that my ankle cutout will be on the downslope if the back of the gunwhale.

I do like to ride with my right foot back and my left foot up so I could just leave it. I'm putting in a highroller front foothold too. But some tricks require both feet back next to each other and with a -4 pole, I might hate it. I'm 6'2.

I can move the exhaust pipe which I've heard is hard to do.

I could cut the foothold and reglass it smaller since my feet are not that big.

I could leave it back and put the left one up just a bit, but would this make tricks harder? I'm sure someone buying my hull later wouldn't be thrilled about uneven footholds either.

Decisions, decisions. I have no idea what I'm going to do.

I lowered my tube about an inch, no big deal just rotate it until it sits flush at the back.

My shop vac cuts off every 10 seconds. I just use it to clean up every 5 minutes or so. BTW, Crab has convinced me to lower the exhaust pipe. I'll post more pics when I get started.

I think I went 1/2 inch clocwise, and it flushed right out. I plan to keep the exhaust tube high where it hits the hood lip and just let it taper down the extra inch.

They might of used a different kind of adhesive back then. I'm glad it helped a little though. Looking good.

The itching is over! Defoamed. Deribbed. Exhaust lowered (very easy by the way).

As you can see I ground a hole in the hull while defoaming. I couldn't see a thing through my fogged up safety goggles. Defoaming is worse than deturfing by far. I'm still amazed that there was no water in the foam of a 96 superjet. The old couple I bought it from hardly ever used it.

I guess I can extend the rear hull reinforcement over the area with the hole. Any advice on what else I have to do to repair the hole? I'm assuming I have to use filler of some sort after I fiberglass over it. I see some searching through old posts on hull repair in my future.

Now I have to place my order with U.S. Composites. I'll get a one way valve installed and work on my motor while I'm waiting. I think I'm going to modify my right foothold so I can wedge my foot into the ankle area while riding surf style. I'm also toying with the idea of making my own handholds in the hood like I saw a guy do on pwctoday.

My order from US composites came in today! I also got a smoking deal on a new white WDK diablo hood, nosepiece, used 24/7 lowered bracket, and new xft hoodhooks from Highroller! I sold the idea to my wife by saying it would save us money on a paint job. It looks like I'm staying white on white. I can't wait till this weekend so I can finish reinforcing and installing my one way valve.

I just glassed the firewall, leaving the new hole. Solved that issue and has foam behind it now. I will seal again on the outside with black 5200

No more bong hits!?:spank::439::nono: I don't know what your talking about man. My best guess is that you meant to put that in your build thread and you forgot that you were looking at mine. LOL! :lmao:

They make black 5200? Where'd you get it? And what issue did you resolve with foam?

[/quote]Yes they do, Home depot has the small tubes. Glassed over all the extra holes, and just foamed in behind them when I did the tray. No more factory fill holes.

Well, all the sudden, my house is for sale and I have a to-do list a mile long to get it ready. I'm working on getting into a different house on my lake and pulling money out of my current house to pay off all my debt. The new house will need total interior remodeling when I move into it, too. It already has a dock with ski ramps but I'll have to reconfigure it for my boat with a boathouse. Obviously, my build is on hold for a while.

This sucks. I just got all my materials in and was ready to reinforce. This whole house switch deal will be worth it in the end though. Now I'll have more money for my ski. I'm seeing a lightweight hull with a monster engine in my future! I'll still try to sneak some work in on my ski, but it will be slow going for a while.

Got my hood today! I also managed to cut one hole for my one way valve install, trim up all the green crap around the whole bondline, and sand the entire interior of the ski. I'll post some pics later. Oh, and my to-do list on my house is done. Open house tomorrow. Wish me luck!
