some men have honor.

if you read the book, sounds like your hometown "hero" is like 'runaway' from the book (which didn't make the movie).

I think there are enough witnesses to Chris's stories that it could be confirmed, not that it is needed.

i read most of it. I feel those articles are out to de-fame someone that actually deserves it by liberal mother fer's that prove time and time again they don't know their a$$ from the mouth.

I was referencing his service; I could care less about his bar fight stories...who cares if he made that up. Who cares what was said about sniping post katrina or killing a car jacker, anyone who actrually believed that is an idiot anyway. None of that takes away from the guys service to his country. Maybe the book is false, i don't know, but I won't talk smack against a SEAL, even Ventura as hard as it is for me. I just wanted to make a point about how different the book is compared to the movie.

I am not a book worm by any means, but I do appreciate our military and like to read about their stories. I am still on the fence about SEALs writing books, but no matter what they do they have my unwavering respect and gratitude. I have read the books and watched the movies to Lone Survivor and UNBroken. Both follow the book pretty close.
After reading the American Sniper book over the weekend, I went and saw the movie. I have to say that this is the only movie where the theater was silent after the movie. The movie did cover Chris Kyle’s personal life well per the book. However, I felt that the movie failed hugely covering what Chris described happening in the book during combat and missions. The movie was severely inaccurate in that aspect and hollywoodized. I don’t want to give anything away, but if you liked the movie, please read the book, you will like it way more. I think we owe Chris that as the words in the book are coming from his mouth without interpretations. I proof read this time Matt.

I read the book and didn't think the movie was that far off. If anything, the movie just doesn't go into detail nearly as much as the book. It couldn't, the movie would have been 5 hours long. Having said that, most of the time, when a movie is based off of a book, the movie pales in comparison to the book because of the details a book can outline.

For those who read the book, did he really say he went to New Orleans and shot looters sniper style?
hell no. The first i heard of that was the links fromMadMat.

I don't want to turn this into a debate, but the movie didn't even get the circumstance of the long shot right...not even close (and there were two long shot sniper records set by Chris). Most everything about the combat/missons in the movie was wrong and innaccurate to what the book said. The part about Iraqi's swimming across the river was my favorite...gotta read the book for that story.

I don't trust anything I see anymore.

It reminds of our own local "hero" coming home. He got locally famous by making up stories about being attacked in parking lot in rural Ohio. He got caught in his lies. WTF man!!!! This freak played this out til the end and did car commercials and interviews all over our area.

I need to stop watching this crap because you don't know what is true and what is complete *&%&*^# lies.

Well that may be...and I tend to agree...but the courts are on his side so far with no change in site. So he is telling the truth...

So we have a bunch of alpha male dicks telling lies and scamming and clawing for that all mighty dollar at the expense of plain and simple truth.

Holy crap man!!! John Wick has to take top prize for most head shots ever in a movie....ever! I kinda have to think the entire premise of the movie was to have most head shots ever and then came the story line!!

Give it another year and it will be completely dead. If you want a chuckle while doing so, look at some stories of the various (poopty) buttcoin mining hardware and their practices.

Now back to movies: I watched Night Moves over the weekend. Independent film about eco-terrorists in Oregon (which was a thing a few years ago) and it was pretty good.

Watch the documentary Damnation...pretty good (I don't entirely agree but I get it). Shot in our back yard and deals with the hydroelectric "issues".

Just watched the trailer for that. Looks pretty good. One thing I didn't see mentioned was fish ladders.
