Performance was great when they worked but they were many issues with them as well.
I purchased this EPIC HX3 with visions of building a Limited Spec Superjet. In past years (96-02) Limited spec we used MSD's or 62t's with rev limiters removed and we barely got to 7000-7100 rpm. 61x cylinders and dry pipes. I personally used one of Advents very first CDI's on 01' too great success after multiple Vilders........RPM was still lower because of the 61x cylinder.
With the rules currently you can run a 760 cylinder lifted so there's no reason other than timing that you cant spin 7600rpm. Solid SXR limited's run 7600-7700 rpm. To accomplish that you need about 12-14 degrees of advance at that rpm. The EPIC is one way to get that timing within the rules of OEM electronics/aftermarket CDI. However I've heard of heat failures from running them hard...I'm assuming RPM drove some of this heat failure issues. This is all just word of mouth.
Running an MSD and rotating the stator to retard the ignition is one means to reducing timing. But you loose some of the low hit that you can get with the programmable ignition
Anyways -still on the fence....my primary riding area is not conducive to any failures: "deep river" with current.
