Msd enhancer vs protec modded cdi

Hmm

I also emailed them, my email and their response below.

So, 62t stuff probably won't work, as Wax said, 64x flywheel looking promising.

Hello,
Thanks for your interest in our products.
Your stator looks different from stator we know from Yamaha Superjet 700cc.

From the picture you can see it has external pickup, but yours have internal pickup.
Internal pickup can be problematic, because it gives "dirty" signal and CDI can have problem with it.

I'm not sure if you can use any of our CDI units.

Borut

Hello

I'm intersted in using a Zeeltronic programable CDI on a Yamaha watercraft (a Superjet stand up ski)

The stock CDI on this motor uses a "pulsar coil" that is energized by the magnets on the flywheel/magneto. There are a total of four magnets, so I assume they are arranged with their poles in opposite directions so the "pulsar coil" sees a total of two positive and negative voltage pulses per revolution.

My understanding is they see around 4-5 volts peak, I have not yet had a chance to measure myself.

I'm wondering if this could be used to trigger the Zeeltronic.

I am looking at using a PDCI-11, if I understand correctly the unit could be programed for 2 pulses per revolution for wasted spark on a two cylinder motor.

Setting static advance could be tricky as there is no clear "sensor" and "trigger" to line up but I could set timing to some fixed angle and adjust until it comes out right with a timing light.

This is the "pulsar coil"

Wax have you actually done the zeeltronic on a twin or just on the triple (and apparently quite a few other systems on various twins).

I'm thinking pretty strongly about doing exactly what you're suggesting.

Better curve with mods. Plus better selection of cdi’s and if you can get the KHI one you can have best curve. All depends what rpm your after.

Yes i have run a sxr ignition on my 8mm lamey race boat as well you just need it to be programable to make the curve you want. Yes i have also done the zeeltronic on a 701 ,superjet you just need to use a 760 front cover
