are you sure the oem wires are resistor?
i've never seen this on any boats i've had.kawi or yami!
just tin plated copper if memory serves me right.
the plug ends are sometimes resistor style but older kawi were not.ecwi worked perfectly fine with those!
Yes since 1996 they have been
the early superjet wires werent

I think this is mostly BS, I have seen it one some of the sitdown models though, the wire is different,it looks like more of a carbon core, Yamaha runs a resistor in the cap ,if you pull a cap apart you will see it in there, these caps do go bad causing running issues and sometimes no spark on one cylinder,I have replaced many of them with NGK caps to fix the problem,it all goes back to don't believe everything that you read here.

not to hijack the thread, but wanted to peak in w/ a quick somewhat-related question:

put in an MSD enhancer and "improved" coil w/ the super conductor wires or whatever they call them...should I run resistor plugs or not? I put in the BR8ES's because that's all I had new, but wondering if I should use the B8ES instead. (I need the E's cause of the head). Any performance issues with one or the other?

I will add that the Enhancer improved throttle response at low rpm's and overall made the engine feel like it pulled more smoothly from idle to mid. It used to just come on hard at mid rpm's (this is a 62T). A friend came to the same independent conclusion. However, I can tell that the MSD improved coil is crap too...it's missing from time to time. I had already cut my stock coil wires before finding out I should have just left the coil in there...live and learn on that one, going to re-wire my stock coil.

i checked my 1991,1999,2000,2004 and a friends 2005 sj and none have resistor spark plug leads.the 1981,1983 1985,1986,1993 js and 2001 sxi pro and 2006 sxr also don't have resistor wires.
all are just plain copper wires .
maybe newer models perhaps?

my arms showed me the difference. not that it was a big one but they showed me. the msd advances the timing down low and advances it up top and the rev limiter is adjustable. you can't make outrageous statements like do you really believe what msd tells you, you can say that about anything, but their products have already been proven.

Of course I don't believe eveything I'm told ,especially from you .
.
You either believe MSD or Advent ?? Which one ??

I wasn't calling him to buy an Ignition .I actually called to ask about the MSD .

Does anyone have proof with a timing light that the curve is different or we just believe eveythiung were told from MSD
