Super Jet My Attempt At A SN Rocker/Shorten

I found a 1993 Waveblaster II with a 760 for sale on Craigslist... Would it be worth buying and transferring what I can into this thing, or would I be better off to completely strip my 02 SJ and dump that stuff in here?

After I got the rear section glassed, I started on the nose. I wasn't really sure what shape I wanted, or how much rocker. I went to Lowes and bought sheets of their pink-ish colored foam and glued them together. I probably took 2-3 nights of shaping to get the nose how I wanted it. I tried to get it to flow decently with the hood. The pole bracket will obviously be visible.

Here you can see the rocker difference between my RN and this SN. (The SN is sitting on a lower stand)

Jeastes1 i think is his user name did one on his sn i believe sportfish did too.

sporttunas ski had rocker everywhere lol. i saw him take a sawzall to his bondrail ON the beach.
use the search funtion and search for the tweeker build. it used to be a square. rockered, shortened, added sponsons, i think a superfreak RN hood and a top deck conversion. that ski was awesome. i wish he hadnt sold it.

As you can see my ski has moved from my garage into my basement. I believe it is currently 15 degrees outside and snowing, so my garage is a little cold for fiberglass work. After shaping the foam I laid a layer of glass on the outside to get the shape, and will reinforce from the inside once I remove the foam.

Here you can get a general idea of the shape of the ski. I believe the overall length is 6'7". My initial goal was to make it short enough to fit in the back of my Sierra with a 6 1/2' bed (with the tailgate up), but that is not quite going to happen.

looking good! giving me ideas and enthusiasm to drag my spare SN hull from out back and cut it up instead of buying something made.

HMM!!! :)

Pictures are not oriented correctly, but I will proceed. Here is when I was glassing in the tubbies.
SN Working On Nose and Tubbie.jpg
I put a pulley in the ceiling of my basement so I could get a better angle for glassing the inside of then nose. It worked alright, but my ceilings aren't as tall as I thought they were.

Here you can see the general shape of then nose. Not quite what I was going for, but I am not turning back now.

I laid out wax paper on some cardboard on the floor to make the new hood liner. I angled the cardboard at the back to get it shaped for the rear of the hood. I laid down a few layers of glass and let them dry like this. It came out pretty good, but I will see how well it fits into the hood.

Looking good man. I ended up buying a carbon wrapped lowered hood for $50. Its not super pretty...but it was cheap and it will get the job done. I have been working on my tray a ton and the amount of time this all takes is astounding.

I like the nose direction you went with. I might have to do something similar. Did you leave enough room for a waterbox? Here's a pic of my tray. Its not done but its getting closer. I left a lip like a Rikter. Tray glass.jpg

I like that lip on yours. Are those WDK footholds? That seems like a sweet deal on the carbon wrapped hood!

I am almost to the point of being sick of working on mine. It has taken way longer than I anticipated! I won't have time for at least 2 weeks with the holidays coming up... My wife really wants me to finsish the basement in our house, but I told her my ski has to get done first.

There should be enough room in the nose for a waterbox. I have an aftermarket (can't remember the brand) in my RN that is smaller and looks like it will fit. The mounting points are still there, just raised up slightly in the front. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do with the nose, because I have no creative ability at all. Standing in the tray right now, the ski feels incredibly short!
