Super Jet My Attempt At A SN Rocker/Shorten

Here is the pic of the underside of the hood. She has been turned over for paint btw. 20140113_182946.jpg

The body lines on the nose mod are not perfect but at this point I am on a deadline and really have to be done with it all.

I like how that hood looks underneath.

I cut the holes in the back of my hood tonight. Wasn't really sure what shape/style I wanted so I kinda just went for it.

Dude ...those holes are huge. I am not sure you want that much water coming into the hood when you go underwater. Plus when the ski is on its side you'll be allowing water into the hood also. I literally plan to run 3- 1 inch holes in the dead center of the hood to allow air in while the ski is on its side and keep water out. I might not have enough air for the motor but we'll see.

I really recommend you fill those holes and make them smaller but that is your call.

I don't know the overall length...never had time to measure before I send it off. I do know I cut 5 inches off the rear and about 8 off the front so in total between -13 and -11. Like I think I said previously its about 1 inch longer from rail to nose than a Q8. The actual ride length is shorter as my rear chop is farther than a q.

I will have smaller holes in the liner, which I still have to fit in the hood... I had some air issues on my old SN and I am trying to avoid that. I know I will obviously tip the ski sideways, but I don't anticipate doing much subbing with it.

I don't think I will sub much either but when I do nose stabs I usually end up half under water or on my side...and I plan on doing a TON OF THOSE! :).

Anyway..do as you wish man...I just figured I would drill another set of three holes if the first choked out the motor. I have huge 2 inch tubes that will let air into the motor so I think I'll be ok with adding more holes in the back.

Well, I have finally gotten some work done on it. I have been really busy neglecting the ski, so it has been a while. My last post was approximately 3 months ago, but I really didn't want to bore everyone by saying, "I sanded today, I then proceeded to sand more, and then I finished up with some more sanding." My wife said all she wants for her birthday next week is to have the ski out of the basement. I am almost ready for paint at this point...Primer1.jpgPrimer2.jpg

Ha, I forgot all about this thread! I ended up selling it before putting it together. I ran out of time and ambition. It looked like it does in the last picture when I got rid of it. A little bummed I didn't finish it, but I didn't have a donor ski to build it with and didn't want to tear apart my RN.
