Yep!!! I had a present waiting at the front door. So whats the best way to cut the carbon without having a bunch of frayed sides.

O.k. so back to reinforcing. After using great stuff to fill bond line. I used epoxy with filler to smooth the rest of the way out. I also used poster board to make templates for my sides. This should set up tonight and I will start laying glass and carbon tomorrow.

you will need to sand/grind the epoxy now...

Remember: when you glass something or epoxy it and it dries, you have to rough it up again in order for the epoxy to stick good to the surface. Any type of glue/epoxy/resin needs a roughed up surface in order to adhear properly... That's why we wanted you to do the carbon and glass together... You always want to do all the layers on a particular side/area in one sitting... It cuts down on sanding and grinding, not to mention un-needed dust and debris....

werd up brotha :cool2:

Yeah I just used filler over foam to seal it and fill in all the air bubbles that great stuff had.Going to ruff it up and lay glass and carbon at one time. Im only laying the carbon and glass on sides just doing glass everywhere else.Looking foward to getting on to the next part of the project,Paint. I decided to go ahead and paint it since everything is coming together sooner than expected.Just painting it blue nothing fancy. This will be my first paint job so I dont want to make it to hard on myself. This has been a fun project so far. Pretty much teaching myself everything I have gotten a lot of great info from this sight and pwct . Thanks

We laid up the glass on the bottom last night. It turned out awsome.we also cut the glass and carbon for the sides. We tried to make a template for the bottom but it didnt work that great. We found the best way was to lay it in and trim it out in the ski.The template worked great for the sides.Im going to do the pole area tonight. Then last but not least, the sides.

Layed up the handlepole area and the carbon today:woot:Now Im going to paint the bottom and bulkhead black.I layed the glass and carbon on side at one time.Theres alot of reinforcement but I dont think doing this adds as much weight as people think.most of the weight is the resin and I have only used just over half of the gallon kit I bought.I havnt been conservative with it either.

I started working on my handholds for my hood mod.I'm making a mold to make them out of carbon fiber. I took a small piece of tupperware and cut about a 1/2 inch out of the center. I put duck tape and taped it back together on the inside. Then I put a coating of filler on the outside. I also filled the lip to give me a flange. I'll sand this out and probably coat one more time. Im going to play with the results and maybe build up the lip and make some drop ins even though thats not what Im using. It would be cool to make hanholds that could be dropped in or mounted in the liner. Who knows we will see what I come up with.

Anyway, I was going to post that I got a different head today. I was going to run a shaved stocker but got the original protec head that was on the motor last year. ( long story ) still 170 psi but looks much better. The motor looked completely stock with the shaved head.I guess that was cool in its own way, but not what I wanted.I think Im going to paint my cylinder since I have a base gasket laying around.Should I do something bright and in your face or should I paint Dark blue like the Body? Does aotomotive paint hold up on cylinders or is it to hot?
