I had to take a break from sanding and fiberglass so I worked on the motor this week. Just need to torque everything and make a decision about what carb Im going to run.I painted the cylinders with metalcast I also painted the flywheel cover and the head pipe. Going to get started again on the bodywork as soon as I put some plastic up in the garage. I already have the plastic I've just been lazy. I need to get it done and get this over to my buddy's for paint.

That metal cast ads some BLING.
ive got a very similar set up 650 superjet.

since that engine is apart, would you mind posting some more photos of the cylinders inside?

Id like to see some detailed photos of the protec bore job.

would it be possible ot measure the exhaust port? ( width, and height from the top of sleeve)

thanks!

I can post some pictures of the cylinders with the head off but it is semi together. Im not going thru compressing the rings again:aargh4:The port job looks like they widened the ports about 3/16 of an inch. and the exhuast port is alot larger. At first I thought they just widened them but after compairing my stock 6m6 to this one they did raise it. Its bored to 81mm and the cases have been bored also to accept the larger bore.I was browsing through protecs website and it looks like somebody spent alot of money on this thing. The guy my buddy bought this motor from had it in a race boat from like 94 that looks like he never used, of course he did have two octanes.

Here are some pics. The first two are the 650 6m6 and the last two are the ported 701 6m6. You can somewhat tell in the pics how much bigger everything is, especially the exhuast ports. I cant remember what exhaust measurements were Ill try to get those for you next time I have the mic here.It will be about a week before I bolt the head on. Im still waiting for gaskets from protec

You should paint your head gray to match the rest of the block. That would look madd sweet!:woot:

what did you use as a liner???
I just used frp from home depot then layed a layer of fiberglass on that. Ive got everything sanded to 320 except the bottom and the nose piece I just got from royalflush. Ive been doing a little filling on the bottom. Not going to spend much time on the bottom cause it will just get trashed but wanted to fill in any deep gouges. I just used epoxy with silica and put a very light skim coat then sanded it back off. Starting to Primer tomorrow:arms: Then I'll wetsand the primer with 400 and paint. I'm Sending my carb to Jetworks monday for Blackjack mod. I also lack a couple odds and ends like bow eyelets and bilge fittings but I'll pick those up next week.

O.k. Motor is installed, handle pole is on, controls are pulled,Bilge pump and bracket installed with wiring,Waterbox is in. Waiting on my O.D.I grips and billet fittings from blowsion. Im installing the turf tomorrow. Im turfing the front of the tray. Should I install electric box bolts through the turf, should I turf over them or should I cut holes around them? Im also still undecided about If I want to install the bumpers and turf all the way to the side or leave them off and just turf the area they cover on the rails. Any sugestions?
