New 2017 Kawasaki 4 stroke sx-r!

If it has enough buoyancy for a rider to stand up while stationary.

Definitely wondering about that. Hopefully not

I just watched the long reveal video and it was very impressive how in a 50 meter drag race (New SXR vs Old SXR), the old SXR was 16 meters behind when the new SXR crossed the finish line. That is 52 feet behind in a 164 feet drag race....id say that is pretty awesome!

Holy chit...

Whats the deal with that 15f engine? Any major flaws or complaints?

I agree with you, that is WAY heavy and not the same idea of a light 550sx that can be tossed around.

It is interesting one of the articles talks positively about how this engine has been in production for 13 years, and so forth. However I read this as they didn't try to make anything newer, lighter, more fitting for this platform, etc. Is the same engine from a 1000lb sit down really the right choice?

It also talks about how fast they brought this to market, and adapted a prototype design from over 10 years ago. Why not take more time, make more custom parts, etc?

Anyway, without full specs and more feedback/reviews/etc, I may be jumping to conclusions.
Limited market, I doubt if they saw enough money to completely engineer a new ski from scratch.

"The ski itself is incredibly buoyant, allowing IJSBA Hall-of-Famer Victor Sheldon to stand comfortably upright in the greatly enlarged16″ x 34″ tray with the engine off, according eye witnesses."

This stand up jet ski product just doesn't generate enough revenue to justify extra engineering expense apparently. And maybe they do have a bunch of 15f engines sitting around and no use for them so voila heavy new jet ski. Done. Next project. This all makes sense to me but they already have the h2 marine engine so wtf. 1000cc and 100 lbs lighter than the 15f engine. Use it idiots.

Kawasaki is going for one thing, a checkered flag and race wins. They don't give a poop about us out there doing back flips and riding waves. Looks to me like the Kawasaki once again will rule in racing. All I know is me and doug already talked about, and we will have two to barrel around some bouys on!

I'm not so sure if that's even true. I mean are they seriously going to allow this in stock class? That would suck. It seems like they are appealing to people uninvolved in any type of competition. Make it enormous and make it powerful, exactly what they did with couches so newbies can get on and pin it. No risk or learning curve involved.

Honestly what's the number one thing any standup enthusiast would say to Kawasaki if they were gonna make a new standup.... don't make it huge. What did they do? Made it huge. So dumb. 1 step forward and 2 steps back imo

2 types of "stand up enthusiasts"!

Some live for waves.....some live for a checkered flag! (or both but this is gonna get them a flag!)

I assume racing will the racing organizers will catch up fast and we can see these tearing up a course!

What I'm saying is I don't think these are going to be well received even by the racers.

The article talked about them putting the 1000cc engine in, but they didn't have enough time to do it before WF. Plus it will give people a reason to upgrade.

I think because we all knew what it was going to be roughly and they did pretty good with it.

I think the racers will rip em!

This will allow a 2 stroke 2 cylinder beginner and limited class as well. (classes that I will ride in, with my 06 sxr) This boat will compete with the 1100 triples in a different category I bet. On the IJSBA website they say they are going to have a meeting after races today to discuss classes after the specs were released.

Ok so they were going to put the new 1000cc engine in but they didn't have enough time? Then hold off until after the finals. For god sakes they went for 6 years without a ski and all of a sudden it's gotta be built. Kawasaki doesn't get it. Good for them for trying but they just don't get it. Sea doo hit a grand slam with the spark and nobody learned a thing from it.

Please explain how seadoo hit a grand slam? Are you talking about generating revenue or building a ski that you want?
I think what he means is that they went in the right direction giving people what they wanted and no one bothered to follow suit. Heard kawi wants to do something similar though.

I didnt know the spark was what the people wanted. But ok. Ill go with it.

It certainly was what people wanted. The demographic is a little smaller at 15k+ compared to 8k wouldn't you say? Also maybe a machine that's a little smaller and fun..? I don't know, maybe I'm crazy. Obviously not a stand up that you or I would be interested in, but a step in the right direction.

Is it just me or does the pole look like they pulled it straight from a 650sx?
