New here and though I've been into watersports my whole life, I'm new to standups.Was within a day or so of picking up a clean '96 XP when I stumbled across some youtube videos of SJ's doing subs and rolls - that's when it clicked...

SJ=(Wakeboarding)-($30k Boat+$?Gas+Spotter/Driver)

After talking with a friend, was pointed here, and decided to pick up a SJ.

Will use this as my build thread - First thing I need is holds! For now, looking forward to getting the machine and getting comfortable on the water.

Awesome post some pics when you get the ski! When will you get the ski?

Few years age stand ups used to be far and few between. Now my local riding spot consists of 75% stand ups on a Saturday

Going to be giving the dealer a call today to find out. When I ordered this past Saturday, the information on the computer implied that it hadn't yet been built, or that the system wasn't updated. The guy made it sound like ~2 weeks. Will post pics as soon as possible!

I got a little bit nervous that I made a mistake when I started reading more and more of the 08+ vs 07- hull differences, but it seems to be 6 of one half dozen of the other. I'll be doing a lot of flatwater riding no intent to race just want to have fun and learn some tricks. Now I have a reason to go on the water on 4th of July weekend when its super choppy.

ride the thing for a season or 2. get a good understanding for how it rides and what you like, as well as where you'd like to go in your riding before dumping any money in.
each ski is just as individual as it's rider, preferences, styles, etc.

welcome to the club.

Exactly what I plan to do. I figure if I can get comfortable and learn a lot on the stock setup, i'll stand to gain even more from mods. I'd rather be awesome on a stock ski than okay on a modded one.

I would check out jetmaniac on here first for parts, before blowsion..... Your wallet wont be so light!
Where are you in the midwest?

Thanks for the tip!

I live SW of Chicago, but am up in Wisconsin Rapids on the water in the weekends

There was one in Parker at the Yamaha dealership, I stood up on it and they yelled at me!:thinking: Hahah

Almost got my dad to buy it too... But then he learned about the racing only deal.. Bummer :/
