The hoodseal is too wide for my channel on a RN as well. Looking at Griffs pics I figured it would be too narrow, but it is definateley TOOO WIDE.

pics?

I'm curious about the quality control on a 500' lenght.. maby it started to swell, but my seal easly fit into the channel.. wonder whats going on..

it fits my square nose channel easily, BUT its about 2 inches too short.

I ordered 3, all 3 are slightly differnt lengths ( by up to about an inch) and the longest one is slightly too short.

I tried to stretch it together near the end, but im not sure that glue will hold under tension like that.

the hood is shut and its drying right now.

here are pics of the cleaned out channel, and the seal in place.

Looks like a nice seal but would be a lot better with out the hollow D-shape. Some one may want to try and purchase a piece of round EPDM from McMaster and run it up through the center to firm it up such as part number 6289K14

IMO

Mouth- how is the fitment with the hood on? is there enough of the seal to keep the hood tight when its latched down. when i dry fit it i was thinking it might not so was going to run a strip of turf to raise the seal.

its pretty tight.

although, my hood hooks have been moved from stock, they are on the outsides like a RN hood ( ive got a RN pole on this boat)

and, when I designed and fit them, I was using the JSS seal, which is LOW, so possibly ove gt more downforce than a stock hood hook setup.

im headed to the lake right now, Ill report back with how it seals.
BUT, I noticed my hood liner is busted, so it might be hard to tell, Ill stick a flashlight inside tonight, and see if it shines thru anywhere ( it did in a lot of places with the previous seal)

 I wasent sure if the SN seal lenght was teh same. i had someone mesure for a blaster 8' 6". wish i would have been told that a SN is longer...:stups: I do have a few 4' pieces i can cut too "fill the gap" for any of them that are to short. I mesured for a RN wish was 7' 8" so i tryed to cut them at 8' so they wouldent end up short... thats a real bummer to here:worried:

I bought 2 for my 2 SN's. I need to go see if they are long enough.

been riding for the last couple of hours, the hood seal works better than what I had ( old style JSS )

BUT, you should put a thin strip of turf or something else under the D seal to make it grip tight, AND, on the cornes, I had a hard time fitting the hood.
im sure my hull isnt sqaure, and my hood isnt true, but its NOT in the groove on thfront two corners.

it still seals pretty well though.

Im glad I bought 3 of them, I will probably get the second one I install right.
with a layer of turf or padding under the D seal.

and I left the 1" gap in the rear, right over the dash board. I cant imagine it hurts much to suck a littel water there.

but, every other seal ive ever installed had a few inches of extra that was cut to fit ( future reference here Griff)

Allright, well i dont mind sending you square nose guys the extra 2 inches. but i did state i was cutting them in 8 foot lengths unless you told me otherwise. If its not going to work for you, pwn it off to the 20+ people that missed out and are seeking your treasure :fest06: :sly:
