I was going to say the same about the screws, looked like it went into an insert that spreads out when a screw is inserted. totally replaceable. Also, the Spark is not geared towards 3 up riding or pulling wakeboards. It is designed more for one up and occasionally 2 up riders at an entry level price, yes, there are options for more bells and whistles and performance....... I applaud Seadoo for bringing back a small flickable watercraft. Not everybody wants to ride a blaster or a standup.

Also, Claude Clayton raced one this past weekend in Pensacola, and from the pictures it was very rough race conditions. I have raced in those conditions, it is brutal

I disagree. I think it was presented a lot loke the car shows on tv, like jegs, but instead of just talking about one product, they talk about both.

Yes, this is a yamaha sales ad, but its a good ad.
It is a shlt add, no question about it, even if all the points were good points, its shlt. Yamaha is trying to argue a point that is opposite the Spark marketing strategy. Sure a Spark could cost nearly as much as a VX BUT you can get on the water for $5k. They are not trying to revolutionize the market with a super powerful boat, they are not looking to have the most durable boat, they are trying to get people on the water, for less, done. No matter how you slice it, you can be on the water, with a brand new machine for $3000 than anybody else.

I have to admit there are some big red flags brought to our attention with this video, but I also have to say its pretty tacky for Yamaha to make a video like this. Maybe focus on developing a better watercraft rather than attacking another brand. You usually see attacks like this when someone feels threatened :)

And comparing it to the VX110 is ridiculous!! That underpowered tank is a total joke. Probably the least enjoyable couch I've ever ridden. You need every one of those 110 HP to move that boat anchor. I'm a huge Yamaha fan, but this ad is absurd!!

Well as long as we are making comparisons based on Yamaha logic, lets compare these two equal vehicles side by side. Afterall, they both drive on a road and have vertical doors. They're basically identical...

I think watersports are making a comeback and yamaha is going to lose this time around. I wouldnt be surprised if kawi came out with something soon. they were late to the game with their 450 quad and the Teryx. you think they miss the boat three times in a row?

From that thread...

I happen to live quite close to the factory that builds the Yamaha models down here in Georgia. I have a friend that works at Yamaha who has told me that there is at least 1 spark in Yamaha's R&D lab undergoing bench marking as we speak.

I asked if Yam will be producing a Spark competitor and he was unsure. But they are at least giving it some thought I would assume as these videos suggest.

Anyone know how these handle compared to a B1?

I have a Spark with the 109hp VTECH tune and 2 B1's... all are fun in their own right. The Spark feels much bigger than a Blaster and is more stable, but is still able to be throw around. While it might be the closest thing out to a Blaster now, it's still a long way off in my opinion.
