However they put it together it looks like it can take a beating. Also all the reviews from people who own them have been good so far.

Made from recyclable plastic unlike yamaha hulls that will junk up landfills and backyards of white trash folks for decades to come. This video screams butt hurt, I love yamaha but what a lame ass attempt to make up for the fact that seadoo is literally re-defining the market with an entry level ski at 1/3 the price of their boats with handlebars.

Is that an official Yamaha production? If so that's just appalling. Just a smear campaign. Incredibly disappointing if that's Yamaha's response.

the video was posted from yamahawatercraftusa on youtube. guess that is their official response. Its too bad their response wasn't in the form of true innovation in an attempt to compete.

I don't how ANYONE on this forum (that actually rides even a little hard in any waves) can think that self tapping screws in recycled plastic hulls are going to stand the test of TIME and abuse that some riders dish out! Even when a old Yami hits a landfill or buzzards backyard it still LASTS for 20 years!

I have no idea if it will last but from what I have seen in 20 years I am gonna say no way!

At that price its disposable....

Its a cheap entry level ski. Been done with motorcycles for year's (learner bikes built in Taiwan or korea - or most scooters). Its not aimed at people looking for quality or I daresay anyone on this forum. They only need to last for a few years until people want to upgrade. Many people would rather pay 7k for a new ski. Then 7k for a better quality but 5yr old ski. They are selling to new not existing customers

And it's working. I've seen more sparks sold from the adjacent seadoo dealership then the rest of the ski's combined.

Good looking design for average Jo and Josephine, who want their big couches for mild fun. This is a logical step towards the wild fun, we have.

edit* Yamaha's silly video maybe points to answer model from Yamaha

Even if their point was valid (and its not), this guy is such a douche it negates any message they are trying to send across.

wow just watched that one. LOL all those things about the size and seat those are all good things! Smaller is better (atleast for us)! I know the spark is not what everyone is looking for but man they are really making a bad comparison. These videos are comparing a ski that weighs twice as much and is almost twice as long! Spark is in its own category right now. So unless Yamaha is gonna make an answer to it then they should probably stop with these absurd videos.

on a side note: I was wondering the Detroit boat show in February and they had a bunch of sparks. I was looking at em just to check them out, and had a sales guy come up and talk to me about it. He tried to tell me they "are back flipping and rolling these". I am not a person to be a dick but I had to reply "no they are not backflipping them".

I disagree. I think it was presented a lot loke the car shows on tv, like jegs, but instead of just talking about one product, they talk about both.

Yes, this is a yamaha sales ad, but its a good ad. I went to a "spark the fun tour" and was mind blown about how expensive a spark could get. Given the choice of a loaded spark or a vx, I would probably take the vx. The average customer who doesn't know much about skis and trusts a sales person to lead them in the right direction, but in the end they would pay almost as much for a vx but get much less.

The base model spark is a wonderful thing. It is small, light and exactly the kind of thing we need to pull the pwc market back where it belongs. It is very affordable for young people and its cool it can be upgraded as you get a few more bucks in your pocket. An alternative to financing.

However, for people looking to spend the money up front on a larger 3-seated family, cruiser or wake skate ski, the spark is a loser.

Note: I would not buy a vx110, but I also wouldn't buy a fully loaded spark. It would be great if yamaha rerelease the wb2 with a vx110 motor in it.

While that video is rather outrageous I have to admit it points out some interesting things that make me question the Spark..

I bought a spark. I don't regret it one bit. I didn't expect to get something top of the line. but its affordable, fun, small, cheap, and with the vtech 109hp tune its plenty fast. It will be nice to have one less jet ski to worry about mixing oil into when going to the lake. Just gas and go. and it should go sometime on one tank of gas also.

As far as the "self taping screws" only a couple of them are like that. The ones down the side have a nut on the bottom. I'm pretty sure the self tappers screw into replaceable blocks anyways not a big deal.
