@WB1994 there have been many times I was in very heavy whitewash where my mag still cavitates like a stock pump. There are some situations it just doesn't overcome. Interested in hearing about this also..

There is less volume in a mag pump b/c the hub is a larger diameter and the extra vanes take up more volume. In turn it takes less water to "prime" the pump. White water contains alot less water per volume b/c of the air bubbles. In turn the mags typically out preform standard pumps in white water because the mags can prime, grab water and shoot you on your way a little bit sooner

A Tbm pump stuffer accomplishes almost identical result to a mag in foam. Actually I would even pick a Tbm stuffer over a Solas mag for sure. There sure is a lot to these pumps and the ones that actually got it figured out is racers with their setbacks. By the way I would still pick the 155 oem over a skat 144 in foam. For whatever that's worth.

I keep hearing people say this statement about whitewash and mag pumps but how could you really test it? But thinking about it if you have water that's XXX% air and you suck it through a stock and mag pump , why would a mag pump still be able to deliver power or deliver it better? I think part of the problem is that there are a bunch of people on this site whos panties get bunched way too quickly when you want to have a discussion about something. They use the "hate card" more often than the Obama administration uses the "race card" . I think a lot of honest discussion gets run out of this site.

So your saying it doesn't process it better it just gets rid of it quicker because it has less volume in it? So if both a mag and stock are in the whitewash for the same amount of time they are both performing like crap for the same amount of time? And how much difference in volume is there in a stock 144 and a mag 144? A half cup of water difference?

Lol. I know nothing about this topic.

I run a Solas 144 now. Have had a skat -2 setback 144. And stock. All three work well from 701cc-865cc stock stroke in surf for me.

Lol. The smart ones with hydro-engineering degrees even stay out of this topic. I'm just a rocket scientist. It's funny though. I built my ski with hopes of running a 155 oem on the cheap and it despite what people said I did it anyway. I'm more than happy with the performance. I love surf but only a few times a year do I hit the ocean foam. Usually Great Lake surf. I have not tried the comparison of big hub to small hub 155 props which slightly changes things. Foam has never been an issue no matter what it's usually my fatigue or riding ability that makes me fall over lol

The key to whitewash is keeping your pumped primed. A good way to do this is restricting how much volume can leave the pump.

If whitewash is something that plagues you, look into reducing the diameter of your reduction nozzle.

There is no magic pump to overcome and compress nothing but a bunch of foam and air bubbles. What goes in the pump comes back out. If you tuned your setup to that it would lack elsewhere correct? Sometimes you just have to ride it out, sometimes you gotta run from it, and sometimes it gets ya. It is what it is.
