I talked one friend into one 2 years ago. last year I broke my leg so I wont count that. this year I have at least one guy lined up to get talked into a ski. hopefully I will find more. thats the only way the sport will grow.

Actually Paul,

isnt this post MUCH better than the other 2 that were previously?

this one is actually about how many standups are out there, and I would think that is pretty good bit of info to consider , for YOU and the rest of us

I do totally agree on the other drama llama personal BS being counter-productive though.

Slightly better.

x-h2o is not what we envisioned it to be currently, so we will be taking steps to get it closer to our vision.

BS worthless posts like this, is why people who try to promote this sport & use this site as a tool for promoting, can't! We, as a group, look like a bunch of bickering fools. We will Never have the respect of the public at large, if we can't even respect each other! Think about it!!!!

ski ya, Paul

Yep I don’t believe this sport will not go any where we are not even a drop in the bucket of PWC. Sure we have some kick butt events but it’s not like we are gathering 3-4 thousand people maybe 2-3 hundred.
People don’t want to stand up on a PWC when they can sit down its not comments on a forum that is holding its self back its the sport its self.

Sorry Mark, you are Dead wrong!

Currently we are soliciting sponsors for the southern fried ride. I have lost several because of the site. There is currently a major PWC magazine intrested, but they are having second thoughts , because of the site!
The BS must & will stop! As Darin stated, we are making steps to ensure our vision materializes!

To further the point, This thread is about % of stand-up riders, now back on track

IT IS COMMENTS ON X-H2O that are preventing major sponsors from coming on board for the events, like Georgia. One major one was on board, and now is not with a specific reference to threads/posts on here.

Consider this factor as well - PWCToday has 29,339 members, or just 1.8% of the total PWC market. That number may be slightly higher as many members may represent two or three skis. But its still under 3%!!!

The X has 1,930 members, or .1% of the total PWC market. We are FAR FROM the be all and end all of the standup community. We're just more web savvy.

One reason why x-h20 appeals to me is because it is so much better than the "other site," reason being that there is much less BS on it. I like to read about Superjets, not BS, so I would agree that the posts should be relative to our sport.

It is exactly comments like this that has made us unwelcome at a campsite where for the past 4 years we use to have our Lanier Rides which we can no longer have there...........

All the negative comments, attitudes, thinking you are funny by putting the Jiffy Pop Popcorn icon in threads where it is getting heated is not helping this site grow, yeah, we may not be the majority of standup riders in the US, but when it comes to competitions and freerides we are the majority, when sponsors leave because of actions here then something is going to have to change.

I think one needs to look at the common denominator of the troubles.

I have 3 stand ups and 2 sit downs. Had 5 to 2 ratio last year.

you guys realize that the MAJORITY of the trouble started is by ONE person

ONE!

not all the drama.......but the majority of it

and that person is very good at what they do........if allowed to continue to post, why not just make his username "the instigator" and call it a day

There is no conceivable way that you actually believe this is the reason Lanier does not want us. Do you not think the drinking and late night noise could have something to do with it. After several years in the same "dry" campground people still insist on drinking. It's not like the drinkers don't know it isn't allowed. If you CHOOSE to attend an event at a non drinking location you should expect to abide by the rules. There was a whole thread last year on the midnight belly flop contest and colored tequila shots. I like a drunken midnight belly flop contest as much as the next guy, but maybe a dry, family campground with a lights out time of 10 P.M. isn't the place for it. I can't imagine that a family campground would see this as something they want on their premises. If you remember, there were many comments about how important it was to make sure that the new location this year be drunk friendly. Maybe we should ask why EXACTLY we want to grow the "sport". Unless you stand to make money from the growth of the "sport", why exactly is it so important. In my eyes, the growth of the "sport" simply means that there may soon be more locations where PWC are likely to be banned. How anyone could believe 300 loud, noisy, smoking stand up jetskis in one location is a wise thing for the longevity of the "sport" is beyond me. I certainly wouldn't want it on my home waters. It draws attention and there are plenty of those among us who routinely do things that we wouldn't want scrutinized. We're like a little bike week without the substantial economic benefits. I know this isn't a popular point of view, but I ought to be able to speak my mind all the same. Before setting me on fire, take a minute to ask yourself what precisely do you hope to achieve for the betterment of the "sport". I thought this was just a site where people who had common interests could come and hang out and enjoy discussion about what we love to do. The X has become what PWCToday was and PWCToday has returned what it once was. Has it occured to anyone else that when most of "us" left PWCToday it got better and the place "we" went took a nose dive? Food for thought.............Hmmmmmm.

As a avid stand up rider I promote the sport every where I go.
At the cove that we set up bouys every week We are polite ,the Lake patrol loves us,clean up trash etc. We(about 10 stand up riders)let people ride our skis to help people make decissions on what ski they want.We have more than a few people who have boaught skis and now ride.

It doesn,t take alot to promote anything,be approachable, polite, and listen to what people asking you. Then respond in a manner that they will understand.
The sport will grow again.

My Mom taught me a valueable lession.

You can say whatever you want to some-one and it usally wont be a issue.
The minute you put the same statement in writing it becomes a big issue.

Actually, there are several people that help to keep trouble going, not just one person........... what is worse one person saying "3-d's or couch's are gay", or the 10 people that in the middle of a heated conversation throwing  icon out helping to stir the pot.......... It takes more than one person to cause all of the problems of the site.........

I didnt say all, I said most.......

you MUST see that there is one person on this board who cares more about talking ******** then riding ski's....its been that way from the beginning

yes, at times lots of people fuel the drama.......but passion cannot be contained, and the majority of it is STARTED by one person

if you dont believe me, start a poll

that being said, im gonig to lunch.

:soapbox: Here is where I think the sport is going.http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/15361 Yamaha & Kawi are basically refusing to grow our 1% with new designs and options. So I think the aftermarket leaders will and should take over. People like Jeff at Waterdawg, EME and others who want to have the capabilities to produce an entire ski in house. I would spend $8000 on a fully aftermarket (ready to go) standup before spending $6000 on a 11 year old OEM Yamaha that will require $3000 in upgrades. I hope to see this in the near future as we will eventually run out of used 96' up SJ's to build. Just an example, if companies like WCF and Team Scream teamed up to manufacture complete aftermarket boats at reasonable prices and WDK, EME and others did the same creating a competetive market it will boost this sport.
IMO:soapbox:

Ok so say we are 1% now we know why we are not in the X-games. So where do you think this sport is going to go?
