You know there are a few standup riders around here, most have no idea what XH2O.COM is .I hate to say it but after some of the threads I have read on here recently I am unsure of whether I should tell them this site exists or not.I am also unsure of whether or not I should tell them about the freeride.I would hate to tell them what a great event it will be then have them show up and find something totally different.I will have to go see for myself before I recommend that anyone else attend at this point.
We are a family...... that truly cares about each other and the future of the sport....... I can't say that I haven't been discouraged too in the last week with all the tension and negativity around here but I tend to always think about the positive...... A Couple of negative and ugly comments surely doesn't speak for the total community or representive of the true core of the people here.....
Racing Community....... Amazing how everyone helps each other at the races - I was a single mom when my daughter started racing and there was no way that Megan could of participated without the help of everyone (Harrison, Paul, Kenny, Tiny, Ronny, and so many others). They not only helped her with her ski, guided her and encouraged her after falling a million times during her first race, but I will never forget how Stoyer spotlighted Megan on her first race at Orange Beach last year and made her feel so special by interviewing her. These kids are the future of the sport! Great Sense of teamwork and family represented here!
Freerides....... Nick (yamaslut) is a model to go by with his efforts and hard work on the Daytona Freeride.... The event went flawless - everyone had a great time together and we raised close to $20,000 for the Jr. Lifeguards. We were all friends riding together and sharing a common bond in our love for the sport and each other......Nick also put together the recent Joe Kenney Flip off - We again came together because one of our own was injured and we wanted to help a friend in need..... I think we raised close to $3,000 for Joe! A Big bonus is that we got to see everyone again so soon after Daytona. My only regret was that we couldn't be in (2) places at one time as I would of loved to attend the Texas Freeride again this year! Last year was a blast!
So many of us work really hard to put together these freerides so that we all have an excuse to get together to ride, catch-up and share something we all love! We also do a great service by putting money back in the community by raising money for a local charity.... But for me - it is about the people - I have met so many unbelieveably nice people in the last couple of years that I now call true friends.......and family!
We all need to get back to remembering what is good and truly important!!!
I hope we see you all at Orange Beach for the first race and of course the next freeride......"Southern Fried Freeride" - It's gonna be great!
