There is no conceivable way that you actually believe this is the reason Lanier does not want us. Do you not think the drinking and late night noise could have something to do with it. After several years in the same "dry" campground people still insist on drinking. It's not like the drinkers don't know it isn't allowed. If you CHOOSE to attend an event at a non drinking location you should expect to abide by the rules. There was a whole thread last year on the midnight belly flop contest and colored tequila shots. I like a drunken midnight belly flop contest as much as the next guy, but maybe a dry, family campground with a lights out time of 10 P.M. isn't the place for it. I can't imagine that a family campground would see this as something they want on their premises. If you remember, there were many comments about how important it was to make sure that the new location this year be drunk friendly. Maybe we should ask why EXACTLY we want to grow the "sport". Unless you stand to make money from the growth of the "sport", why exactly is it so important. In my eyes, the growth of the "sport" simply means that there may soon be more locations where PWC are likely to be banned. How anyone could believe 300 loud, noisy, smoking stand up jetskis in one location is a wise thing for the longevity of the "sport" is beyond me. I certainly wouldn't want it on my home waters. It draws attention and there are plenty of those among us who routinely do things that we wouldn't want scrutinized. We're like a little bike week without the substantial economic benefits. I know this isn't a popular point of view, but I ought to be able to speak my mind all the same. Before setting me on fire, take a minute to ask yourself what precisely do you hope to achieve for the betterment of the "sport". I thought this was just a site where people who had common interests could come and hang out and enjoy discussion about what we love to do. The X has become what PWCToday was and PWCToday has returned what it once was. Has it occured to anyone else that when most of "us" left PWCToday it got better and the place "we" went took a nose dive? Food for thought.............Hmmmmmm.

Charles,
I agree with almost all of what you said!
Lanier, Yes, the drinking was a large reason we lost the site. It also was the participents dis-respect for the people in charge. Same as what we are complaning about here. A select few who dis-respect the enjoyment of the site, by the majority of the users!
Your question as to why we want to grow the sport? several sided question. Yes, I'm certainly in the industry! Make money from it!, Thats my business side. Those who know me, know my personal side is as hard core enthusiest as they come. With growth comes, acceptance with people in general. We could actually make the X games! There will be way more companies involved, thus a better selection of craft & parts for those craft. evolution! Those are some of the personal reasons I have for growth!

Now, the differance between the X & pwct? thats where we don't agree.
the progression away from pwct was the corprate enviorment! The X became home for the core standup enthusiest. Our problems came from a self policing attitude, we became laxed, our bad! That is about to change! On a corprate level, pwct/sbt are no dummies! they reacted to their loss of membership, & changed course, smart on their part!

all watercraft again has a bright future, we are just trying to do our part to see that materialize!!!

:soapbox: Here is where I think the sport is going.http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/15361 Yamaha & Kawi are basically refusing to grow our 1% with new designs and options. So I think the aftermarket leaders will and should take over. People like Jeff at Waterdawg, EME and others who want to have the capabilities to produce an entire ski in house. I would spend $8000 on a fully aftermarket (ready to go) standup before spending $6000 on a 11 year old OEM Yamaha that will require $3000 in upgrades. I hope to see this in the near future as we will eventually run out of used 96' up SJ's to build. Just an example, if companies like WCF and Team Scream teamed up to manufacture complete aftermarket boats at reasonable prices and WDK, EME and others did the same creating a competetive market it will boost this sport.
IMO:soapbox:

I would agree with that. I think that the lack of anything 'new' is a big obstacle to the growth of the sport. When was the last time that anything other than different graphics were added to a stock boat? The superjet has been the same from the beginning. The new X2 is only being released overseas. The ONLY truly innovative thing that I've seen is the 3D which everyone immediately says "3D=Gay". Granted it's difficult to convince people to spend a lot of money on R&D for a product that is only going to sell to 1% of a market but without that money spent on R&D to develop something new then that 1% will decrease even more.

the only 2 SXRs ive ever seen here were from Kansas I think, CEEBEE and his freind I met them a couple of years ago up near the dam.

there is at least one 3D near me too, and possibly 2, or ive seen the same one at 2 different docks. not that it really matters, but ive seen FAR more older standups.

also, yesterday returning frm grocery store, saw MINT 550sx on trailer behind a minivan with some young kid driving.

COOL.

When I was up there (NW AR) in the summer of '05, I saw an 800 SXR out there. So there are definitely more current standups running out on Beaver Lake.

Didn't get close enough to tell if it has an AR or KS registration, but he was out with a boat.

I did see another square at the spot where I beached, and spoke with him... he was not on PWCT (pre-X).

(3)96+ superjets
(3) 650sx
(1)550
and sometimes theres an fx1
and i am the only one of them on the boards one of the other superjet owners is into freestyle and has a limited setup and a wammer hood and footholds.
Now that i think about it that actually is a lot of standups on a lake that is o nly about a mile long.

1 sj and 1 650 sx.

We have LOTs of people here in jersey that ride standups. And none of them really post on here at all. Some do, but not many.

But on the same note, i still get that question once a week, "they still make those?" But everyone that asks that question is sincerely interested in it adn most of the time ends up trying it and wanting one.

1 X2 and 1 SX that I hope to sell in order to mod the X2 or buy a SJ. I think that we were able to 'convert' a couple of people into standup riding last friday at Long Beach. . .

You know there are a few standup riders around here, most have no idea what XH2O.COM is .I hate to say it but after some of the threads I have read on here recently I am unsure of whether I should tell them this site exists or not.I am also unsure of whether or not I should tell them about the freeride.I would hate to tell them what a great event it will be then have them show up and find something totally different.I will have to go see for myself before I recommend that anyone else attend at this point.
