I had hip replacement surgery yesterday morning at around 7:00 , everything went as planned and I was back home yesterday afternoon 3:30 , they had me up and walking on a walker yesterday and so far so good, pain is minimal at least compared to the pain I was in before.

I have a good woman to take care of me and some good drugs but in one day I am walking around much better and I have physical therapy today at 2:30 .

I don't know what they gave me to knock me out but the best way I can describe it is if you have ever seen a sci-fi movie where they pass through a wormhole , yeah it was like that , everything jumbled up and unrecognizable, like taking a trip on LSD , at any rate I am doing well.

Just don't do what my uncle did. He was up and about within days and pushed himself too hard. Day 10, his legs gave out after a day out fishing, and he fell down my parents front steps and broke the femur an inch below where the screw ends for the new ball joint. o_O

Did ya get get a new Ball & Socket Joint?

Seen a clip of that Surgery. Doc used Harbor Freight Oscillating Saw, Porting Tool, Drill and Tap, Hammer, Depth Gauge, Metal threaded Inserts and Cup, Helicoils and a big Ball Spike CV Joint hammered into the Femur.

Almost feel like I could do the Surgery me self o_O

Yes a new ball and socket , the Orthopedic surgeons I used are in with Baptist hospital and they have an excellent program, I was there at 5:30 , operated on around 7:00 and home by 3:20 , the surgery is robot assisted and minimally invasive , it looks like the recovery will go fairly quickly , 2 weeks before I can drive again 4-6 weeks before I can get back to work full time.

All my personal and work vehicles are standard shift so it may be longer than two weeks , I will see how it goes , we have a 2021 Honda Accord I can drive till then.

My understanding it the ball is metal and is forced into the femur bone , it is barbed so it can't come back out , the socket is polyethylene plastic and is glued in place.

I am going to be taking it really easy and I have installed a ramp , I won't be going up any steps for a while.

We went to a class called joint camp and they really stressed what not to do and what will happen if you don't , it's not just another surgery it's at least two more and an extended stay in the hospital , plates , screws and cables would have to be installed as well..

Be fun to have a zerk fitting sticking out to keep it lubed.

Happy to hear surgery went well! Hopefully be backfliping that 300sx by mid summer. =)
I think backflipping is off the table, hopefully riding won't be though., too old for that craziness anyway.

I hear the PT on the knee is much worse than on a hip replacement , todays PT was a nothing but it will get harder each time. I hope it all goes well for you.
I have a colleague that got a new hip a couple years ago. He was back on the firetruck in six weeks. It's incredible how easy that surgery is now. I'm hoping spinal disc replacement gets to that point soon!

I have an inflamed L3 and L4 vertebrae hopefully this will take the pressure off of those , actually my back feels better already , apparently hobbling around with a bad hip puts a lot of excess pressure on the discs

Heal fast brother!
I am not one to sit around so the last few years have been tough but I have been following the exercises and recommendations to the letter , it is amazing how much I have progressed in two days ,I feel like l could ditch the walker now but I won't till PT says I can.

I told my fiancé' that I would be up and walking in three days and I meant it ,so far it looks totally doable.

Today is 3 weeks since my total hip replacement surgery. I have been driving, and back in the shop in short bits for 1 week now. (Paper work, ordering needed parts, etc). I too thought after a few days I could ditch the walker, but then had more stiffness. after about 2 weeks I stopped using it.

I have been doing full flights of stairs for more than a week now, and don't have to hang on. I find just walking really helps keep me loose.

Other than just a little muscle stiffness, I am feeling awesome. It is SO good to no longer have the bone on bone pain. I had been 1st diagnosed about 10 years ago, and had major bone spurs, and little movement anymore.

Really excited for this....
