Do these bolt right on to an XMetal Pole?
Currently the JETTLab APS steering work with OEM bushings. XMW is about the only pole manufacture that decided to make their poles not accept OEM bushings. That being said, all I run on my ski's are XMW poles and I've been running this steering for 6+ months testing different bushing materials. These will eventually work with XMW poles but not ready to release the option as we are still testing how these hold up over time.

I can mod pole for 100 to accept oem bushing. I'm testing a custom bushing now and all is going well. But I understand he won't release this option until fully proven. Right thing to do.

I setup my steering this morning. I disassembled everything and reassembled with anti seize and grease. Setup the new steering and bars. Going to the lake after lunch.

I had bought a 4x6x9 yoga block prior to Sebastian but didn't want to mess with installing it. Convienent to have it right there on the shelf. I strapped it on with a bungee, webbing and zip ties to try it out. Going to try 4", then 6". Also going to try 9" with the pole ratchet to the the hull to see what a fixed steer would be like.

Disassemble and surf prep. I did take the big bolt out too.

Setup steering.

Installed bars and cable. I had left my umi assembled just in case but everything bolted up no issues.

Fully assembled ready to ride, block at 4" to start.

The only issue I had is that these mx bars are really wide, so my throttle cable was too short. I had to pull the battery tray and move the tank so I could move the cable in front of the waterbox.

I had the throttle cable issue as well but I was trying to run mine slanted back a little. Once I put them up like they where meant to be it was long enough but barely. How wide are yours? I haven't measured mine but they look pretty close.

Based on a similar style i see online id say 31.5. I was ptrtty happy with the width for now. My hands did hit the water in hard corners so id probably like narrower but for now they zre easy on my back.

Once i moved my throttle cable to the front of my waterbox, i had tons of room.

I rode some today, didnt get too crazy because i have to work tomorrow. I had a bit of a comfort curve, as they were different than my stock bars. I was also concerned about riding too aggressive. Once i had a helmet on i rode the course, theres a lot of metal up there. My knee bumped the back end of the steering when i tried to do some freeride, so i didnt do that as i was concerned. I have an idea to make a pad for the back before i get too crazy. Havent recovered from the last injury cant risk another.

The ride was great. I tried it down and with the 4x6x9 yoga block on all sides. The 9 made no sense so that didnt last long. The 6 was super comfy but hard to get up on and had the cg way too high. My favorite was 4, which makes it 6 inches hiher than it was. Ill probably go lower to 2-3" but for now its a good heiht to unload my back. The yoga block was also a good shock absorber.

Install was easy other tha the throttle cable issue, but that has nothing to do with the steering. It also lined right up with my umi cable mount so no asteering cable adjustment was needed. The steering was very smooth. Much better than stock and umi. The lock bolt made a huge difference keeping the slop out. It was easy to get it setup and easy to retighten when the bushings fully set in and pushed out the extra grease. None of that stock nonsense, oh its too sloppy, now i cant turn the bars, blah.

The steering was also much quicker than my umi, even with the same cable position, due to the lack of sweep in the turn plate. Also i didnt even notice how super wide the bars were because the pivot threw so fast.

This part is a great option for guys who want fixed steer superjets but dont want to drop $1500 on a hood. My buddy who is a diehard fixsteer guy always complaining about my superjet not wanting to ride it was loving it. He even threw down a 180 nose stab out of no where and has never ridden my boat anthing like that. He was instantly at home with it because the ovp throws like a quad, mtn bike, etc. The heiht with the 4in block and high rise was very close to his x2 side by side, but my -3 pole was a little far back. A -7 pole would probably line up with the x2, but i think -5 would probably be best. Trying to talk him into a setup like mine and ditch the x2.

Hopefully ill continue to feel better and get some more practice in, and get to really throw this thing around. The rake on the bars was prety natural for the course and i really liked it, but its going to take some adjustment to the higher position and rake before i feel comfortable trying tk freeride it.

After a couple tanks I was at home and never going back. My pole was always a little to short for my hull but that problem should be fixed soon. Even my x metal adjustable mid length pole all the way back with std length Umi plate was to short with straight bars.
My hull was designed with the pole mount 2.5" forward of a superjet.

For those inquiring the JETTLab Adjustable OVP system will not work with Aura Billet poles as Auras pole design does not accept OEM bushings. All other tube poles have been mounted successfully.

Anyone have pics of the underneath view when mounted? Wanting to see how far it hangs past the pole.

Ashby,
Have you thought about making an optional baseplate version that only offers the ovp position?

@Kny21 I know it sounds lIke a long plate because of the adjustments but the plate is still very small. Here is a comparison photo against a Blowsion "stubby" plate.

I like the steering. The lock system keeps the bushing nice and tight.

I don't like the MX bars I bought, not a fan of the rake. I have a RRP straight bar to put on. My running issue was a simple loose ground in the ebox. All fixed up. Just need to put on my new bars.

Havent ridden much since to try out my Scraggly knee guard. Have to make some time to get the bars on tomorrow and maybe try them out before thanksgiving.

How much interest would there in a yamaha only design stubby plate like the 3D print below? Seems like most people end up trying the standard behind the pivot locations but like the directly over the pivot setup the best. Considering stocking both set-ups for those that know they only want OVP.

I think that if you're going to bring another product to market, you should make a stock/UMI style turn plate that utilizes your bushing system. I'm pretty please with the adjustable plate. The 3d printed guard scraggly made me is great. I think the bushing with screw lock makes your product great so a competition to umi that doesn't come loose every other ride would be a good product I think.
