Custom/Hybrid ping pong ball thread!

LOVE it!

Light and strong!! Until it gets water in it over time. I drained a lot more than I expected when we got back to the ramps. But when we first went out I was like oh yea! Boat wake rolls are easier/faster for sure!

Between all the pool noodle and pool noodle surf board (big custom cut piece hugging the waterbox with straps going through it like a stock mat) I have in the engine compartment and the 1000 or so beer pong balls inside..... it felt like it will have zero problem floating as good as a stock ski.

Now I have a pair of 16mm aluminum versiplugs coming to scupper the water out of the tray and I am done. DSC05652.jpg

DSC05689.jpgDSC05687.jpgDSC05653.jpgSo now worst case senario I lose all power/bilge and it ALL fills with water in the surf and floats as good as stock or better IMO.

I wasn't sure about the new front foothold but I found a combo I LOVE right away! I only carved flat water with it so far though....

And I love the small enclosures! Waaay less thought in to staying in IMO.

Man its good to have the garage back to "normal"...

On a seperate note....I swear Korns and my ski can not be told apart if you are blindfolded! (Trinity SXR800 -vs.-WDK SXR (Envy) yamaha motor/pump)

OK I just rec'd the smallest versiplug...it is big and ugly for this application but I'm gonna see what I can do.

I can easily see how to make it smaller and longer for glass in gunny use....

Might have to go see my buddy at the machine shop!

Well Petes in the shop getting some new steer wheels and some other goodies...and I can't sit still.....so I am ripping this tray out to see where so much water gets in when I sit.

I think I might flex seal the entire inside and then go with the blue foam this time...NEW WHEELS.jpg

Oh nevermind the tray held up great and is solid except for 1 little spot...a crack! A little material and new turf and good to go....pong balls are still packed tight and look good...so they are staying.

have you sunk your ski with the balls in it yet?

Mostly.... but not completely filled the engine compartment. It was half full and my gunnies were filled and it showed zero signs of even thinking about going under.

I have ZERO ZERO doubts it will float.

You couldn't sink the amount of ping pong balls in this ski with this ski....no way.

Tray 3.0

This will be the last mod....just integrating the front hold in to the hull.....and then sanding smooth and reinforcing/giving her one nice full carbon tray look.

Then fresh 25mm padding and blue turf.

I have a nice SXR PPFH for sale if anyone needs it.

OK all weak spots ( I ran out of materials last time!) reinforced and then everything sanded and shaped to perfection. The tray still looks like arse but I don't care. The turf came out good I think!

The front foothold feels great!

The ping pong balls all looked brand new and were packed tight! I was only able to squeeze 3 more in after all she has been through!
