PING PONG BALLS / defoam / tray widening / #zero SJ sponsons plus more

here are pics of the tray. it is 16.5 inches wide in the back and stock width in the front which i believe is 13 inches. i mixed up a batch of resin and filler to a cake frosting like consistency to smooth out low spots as it was very difficult yo get flat sides. i started my enclosures on the wamiltons richters by moldiing them out of modeling clay. after the entire tray is sanded pretty flat it will get one last single layer of carbon fiber to finish it off.

Nice work man.....I just kicked the chit out of a 40 foot tree......I'm passing out now. My garage is in shambles now man....don't know when this motor is gonna get done.

so today i figured i would get some of the rest of the ski put together and as i tightened the last pump bolt the threads ripped out of the bress insert inside the hull. WTF. my solution was to use a hole saw and cut through the tray. now i need to find a new insert or maybe helicoil this one.

it worked great you just have to really scrub to get all the clay off. it doesn't actually boond to the resin its just sticky. i ended up scrubbing with water and a reg then a toothbrush and acetone.

I am anxious to see how that rear exhaust does. I thought that having it that far back and low it still got into the pump? I am going side exhaust also but about 4 feet closer to the nose.

yesterday i used a hole saw and cut a hole in each gunny at the top and added more ping pong balls (never took pics, sorry). i also fixed the insert for mounting the pump. today i did my final layer of carbon fiber in the tray. tomorrow after it sets i will trim the edges and do any sanding and it will be ready for turf. it looks like there is a big square patch under the carbon fiber in the middle. its an optical illusion it is not really there.

unfortunately no one will ever see it. but it made the tray nice and strong. the tray and sides still had a little more than desireable flex (IMO) but that last layer tied everything together and stiffened it up quite a bit. ithink its perfect.
