PING PONG BALLS / defoam / tray widening / #zero SJ sponsons plus more

started my turf tonight and figured i would get pics of the last trick thing i did. i installed the jet ski solutions bulb style primer on my dash. i put 1 inch padding over it and cut out a hole and turfed over it. you can press the bulb through the turf it works great. in the first pic madmatt is pointing out to where the primer is under the turf.

The JSS primers really only breakdown due to the sun,, thats going to hold up real nice. I would tihnk it would wear your finger out pushing through the foam,, unless your kicking it?

primer is easy to pump, that thing really is very efficient. i was kinda wonderin how good it would work being that small but itflows quite a bit.

i took the ski out today for its maiden voyage, so here's the scoop.

1- #zero sponsons are amazing makes the whole ski ride higher in the water. i have to admit i was nervous about how it would ride since i never rode a ski with tubbies. but the ski rode awesome.
2- the wide tray is very very nice on a superjet. the enclosures are great and will take some getting used to as i did have a few close calls trying to get out in a hurry. as i got used to them it wasnt a big deal. i am pleased with those too.
3- the side exhaust worked flawless. never had an issue. it does get a little loud in a turn when its out of the water. it will also scare the chit out of anyone next to you when you jump out of the water as the sound is projected out the side rather than down.
4- i am so glad i did not use any foam at all. i have determined that it is TOTALLY IMPOSIBLE to seal a tray area completely. i was so frickin meticulous with the sealing and i still had some water come out of the drains when i got home. it wasnt much maybe a 1/4 to a 1/2 a cup of water. i really dont care since i have the drains but i really dont think foam belongs in a ski and they should all have drains.

X2. I sealed the hell out of mine and I drain water after every ride. Thinking of using some versiplugs so I'll just drain while I ride.

hey smurf, what do you think the life span is of the ping pong balls. and they dont melt when touching the exhaust? i thought about wrapping some heat tape around it to keep it cool under the tray. and did you weight it before and after?

nice work! it motivates me to do it to mine and i really enjoy reading these. i would of bought this ski if i had not of already got mine a month ago. makes me wish i would of searched more...

im pretty sure they wont melt, there is a lot of water flowin through the exhaust and i dont think it gets hot enough. i used plastic ping pong balls and i dont think they are as fagile as celuloid balls. celuloid balls will actually absorb moisture over time and swell.

it was solid looking yesterday
we haven't had our wave season yet really though

it looks as nice up close!!
just feels like there isn't the support internally that foam provides.
but then again
fiberglass is made to be a somewhat flexible building material i guess.

I missed where you re-created the sides of the tray, your pics kinda skipped past that.

I want to do this or something similar, but I don't understand how your reinforcing the gunwales.

Very cool build, defintely insperational.

i just did a layer of glass on the inside of the gunnies just like you do the inside of the engine compartment. ill pm ya my phone # and explain how to do the sides.
