Wednesday the 17th, but more likely Thursday the 18th, we could see some significantly sized NW swell. That blip on the long-range models mentioned in my last report has morphed into a monster of a storm—but still on the long-range simulation. Today's model run (120h+ in particular) shows this system dropping down from the Aleutians in the next few days and eventually slamming the Oregon/NCal coastline with extremely big surf. The 144h+ models today show this storm coming within only 900 miles of SoCal when it pumps up seas in the 30+ foot range. While NCal could see waves pummeling the coast with 20-foot faces from this,

I would rather have like medium size clean, or small clean, than big and mushy ! Just saying.. hopefully it will be killer. either way fun...
Riding really big mushy stuff can sometimes get tricky !
All fun though !

it will be difficult to compete in something that big...
you would not even be able to see the rider 50% of
the time...

I have seen 20ft faces in Oregon and
it's no joke...

It will seperate the men from the Boys :swordfight:

At pismo If its big its Not going to be Mushy

If its huge the real contest will be the scavenger hunt for all the ski parts washing up on shore:crutches: J/K by the way

For us fresh water guys, how do coastal waves compare to fresh water? We get wind blown 3-5, 7-9's, & bigger but I hear coastal waves have more power.

Just trying to imagine myself crapping my shorts in 20' + ! :eek5:

If this hits it will be a Deep water swell with long periods, which will make the waves thick and Heavy, multiply wind swell waves by 20,
but things float better in salt water

the length of fetch and the bathymetry of the west coast creates the best we are gonna get in the states..

another concern will be tidal fluctuations due to storm surges...
I heard it's really flat there too... camping may be a pain in the butt..

I don't know the area though...

thats an understatment..20ft surf can kill you..very quick..hopefully you guys leave your wrastlin shoes at home..cant swim in those :nono:..if its really that big it will be borderline unrideable..pismo gets closed out at five feet so..
