Making the assumption the builder knows how to tune carbs and that they arn't on a penny pinch budget

My vote would be for duels and smaller the better. 38's to 44's max but AM not OEM.
Better throttle response
Better fuel economy

There are plenty of JM 781's out they on 38's and they frickin rip!

I do not like these kind of general 'what's best?' threads without alot more specifics. I think you need to know much more specifics on motor, pipe, and usage to choose the 'best.' What's best totally depends on the details- what is best for the exact setup and which is most important- price, performance, ease of tuning, fuel economy/range.

For example, a 61x/61x 701 motor with a stock head, stock cdi, and stock cases with home cylinder porting from a template kit (that ports exhaust only) with a Coffman sizzler pipe in a SN for a guy on a budget, then the choice is a single oem or a/m 44.

At the other end, a 62t motor bored to 760, running high compression with race gas, total loss, PFP, pro case and cylinder porting in flatwater hull, then dual 46s would be a good choice.

I'm trying to convince Prosouth to save money on aftermarket carb and single intake and just get OEM 38's. I don't think it's worth the money to go to a single.
