I did the regular Thursday evening ride at Cherokee last night and most of the riders are racers---even with them going 'slow' it about killed me.

I think total was around 8 miles---forgot my blackberry in the car so didn't get a true distance.

I use gpslogger on my blackberry and the program is awesome, but gps-based elevation stinks. Sometimes the elevation is fairly accurate but most of the time it jumps around too much. Altimeter-based elevation in actual gps devices is 100000% better.

did 7.8 miles in 43 min today. it was nice and wet and muddy today so it made for a fun ride.

Big K how did you do in the race?

Started out to hard, held the lead for 1/2 mile!, should have held back some. Ended up 6th out of 12 racers. Was able to pass a few, some had passed me and I passed back after the climb. Race started out with a 1 mile ride up a gravel paved road, then a 1 mile or so climb. It takes me usually about 2-3 miles to get warmed up good. Climb killed me plus I had some bike issues that kept me from getting any pre riding. Overall I am happy.
There were some of the Pro Racers there also. Alot of Pro's are switching over to Xtrerra racing, they have a big one next weekend and alot of those racers raced in this race also. It was pretty cool seeing them start. Holy cow they are fast!

nice work!! I am hoping to do a couple races this summer but need to get into better shape still. I need to find more time to ride because I only get in about 30 miles a week. I also need to start dong my local trail twice in a row, its only 7.8 miles, but I am always dead tired after doing it once. I think I also do a little better after a couple miles, so next time I am going to ride 2 miles on the road before hitting the trail. I will have to see if that helps out my time.

thought i killed the trail today but when I got done i was slower than yesterday, WTH! yesterday was muddy and very wet and today the conditons were almost perfect. this trail has some very sandy spots so its nice when its a little wet, like it was today. This was my thrid day riding in a row and I think that might have something to do with the :):):):) that i was a little slower. I usually go every other day or with 2 days inbetween riding.

7.8 miles in 45 min
top speed of 26 mph
avg speed was 10.5

I had ben averaging about 20 miles a week. Past month I am lucky to get in 8 a week. I am the same on our loop. 8 miles and I am done. From January through April I had hit a point where I felt I could have done 2 laps easily but lost that edge with vacation, work, life......... Hope to get back into it after this weekend.

5.7 miles, 6.7 mph average

I guess I should mention that was a loop around Cherokee Park here, 2 laps with 2 hill climbs per lap, with our Trail-A-Bike and 6 year old attached to my bike. It was a blast riding with her and we rolled through the sprinklers both laps so that was really cool too.

Here's some shots from Monday when I got it just tooling around the court.

I got out with my local riding buddies last night. Road bike, not much wind, sunny and warmish. Really scenic roads too. We played "road sign tag" which is fun. 40 miles in 2h 12min. (average about 18 mi/h)

good pace. I dont have anybody to road ride with. Cutting the wind by yourself is not exactly fun!!!!!!!!!!! I have only ridden with someone once and it is night and day difference drafting with someone.

It sure does. I live in a town famous for what is probably the largest bike race in the world. Just this past weekend some 20 000 riders started the "Vätternrundan" which is 300 km (187 miles) long. The best guys finished on 7 h 5 mins, that kind of speed is insane....
So I'd say we have good chances to train in groups. Normally during the spring there's a planned training every Sunday morning, with 50-75 people showing up to ride, in groups of about 15 depending on skill and desired speed.

pretty cool!

I would be terrified to ride in a large group.

I can deal with trees and stuff MTB'ing They only rarely jump out at you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bikes (other people) are always moving side to side!

3 miles in 1:15.

Oh, I had our 8 year old on the trail-a-bike with me too, so we took a lot of breaks, checked out 'nature', plus had 2 chain drops on the TAB from her pedaling so hard in first gear up hills. 90F+ today too so we drenched ourselves with water out of our Hydrapaks too.

She said it was the most fun she's ever had, and I had a blast with her.

Sold my Road Bike last month and picked up a 29er single speed.

55miles a good ride!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not been logging my time just mileage.

Trying to get at least 10 miles each ride or more. (trails are really tight, not really conducive for long rides since you never really get into a pace)
