Once it cools down I plan on hitting some trails.

Right now I'm enjoying my road bike. This Saturday we have a group ride planned for 102 miles, should be fun.

It's normally a fast pace ride with our locals...

I just could not get into the road bike. Had a killer Carbon with full ultegra setup........... Lost some $ on it but oh well. I have already ridden my 29er almost as much as I did the Road Bike over a 2 year period and I have only had it a few weeks!

Yeah I just bought a full Carbon Aero frame 3 wks ago, just looked at the odo today, I already have 360 miles on it. Last wk I installed a pair of Zipp wheels so I'm ready for some fast paced rides now.

Legs are hurting today, did 46 miles on Tuesday afternoon. Did a quick 29 Wednesday morning.

29 miles, 1hr 19 minutes group of 3 with 10 miles into the wind.

My Buddy's want to ride tonight with a local group, total tonight will be 62 miles, but 20 of those miles will be very fast. These locals we meet up with ride 26-28mph with sprints to 34-38mph....

That's crazy. The Ironman Louisville winner this year averaged 24.75mpg for the 112 mile bike segment. That blows my mind.

112 miles at 24 for the average is crazy.... At least here in FL we don't have hills, etc. I enjoy riding at 20-22mph, some guys I ride with like 18-19 which is nice to relax...

But the fast guys keep it at 24-26, with those fast sprints in the mid 30's..... as long as you stay in the pack the draft really helps.

My first ride with that group I was sprint at 31-32 and watching my HR sky rocket when a group of lady's blew by me.

Now with my new Zipp wheels I can sprint in the mid 30's, & keep up!

Slowly my HR is getting lower during the fast rides..

5.2 miles in 42 minutes last night with a buddy, average 7.4mph at Cherokee Park which is a bit more technical than where I normally ride.

That may not sound like much, but for me it's a huge improvement and I could have gone a lot further but we ran out of daylight. Moving my seatpost up another 1/2" did wonders, I just couldn't do it until I got my 400mm post last week and the past 2 rides have been much better.

I had it set pretty good for my Sidi shoes/Eggbeaters, but going back to platforms/Vans needed a bit more height.

18 miles today on road with slicks on my full susp bike. We had a serious headwind hit us at about 11 miles plus some rain so cut it short from the 20+ route we were going to do and based on the weather after I left, it was the right move.

I'm dead. I'm definitely not used to that. 12mph average overall.

I need to put my big ring back on if I'm going to do that much more, or get an actual road bike.

I'm glad I don't run a big ring though because on Friday my bash guard nailed a log crossing. Had that been a big ring, it would have dug in and I would have stopped/gone flying, but instead it just bumped really hard and I kept going.

9.5 miles tonight in 1:35 but that included several breaks talking to some buddies and showing a newer rider around the trail sections. Most of it was actual trail with some road in between.

Unfortunately the weather is turning tonight to colder and wetter so the trails around here may be unrideable for a while. Waverly might be ok since it drains really well but we'll see.

You would most likely still made it over. Never seen a big ring act like a throwing start. They actually will work to help you over. Act like Teeth. I run a Straightline Bash guard also. But will put the big ring back on anytime I go to Oak Mountain in Birmingham where I will need the big ring at times.

pretty good time. Have not been looking at my times lately, just trying to get close to 10 miles per ride. Did only 7 last wed, but did it at a very fast pace, faster that I normally go, was trying to catch some guys in front that I saw in the distance (lights since it was dark). Blew my wad at the 4 mile mark catching them. Huffed and puffed the last 3!!!!!!

I got about 4.5 miles in Saturday evening. I started just before sunset with no lights on and ended in complete darkness with all 3 lights running. Pretty cool. I just did one short loop at Cherokee, didn't want to add the rest of the mileage since one section is much more technical and I was by myself, in 18F weather, at night.

Unfortunately the trails are really rutted up thanks to idiots riding when the trails have been mushy lately.

Here's a Blackberry pic

Cool. What all are you wearing??
I am still trying to find out the best way to keep my toes from going numb.
You have better option on shoes with platforms!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nike tights, mtb padded shorts over those, then fleece pants over those, toe warmers, dristar shirt, 2 long sleeve t-shirts, and windbreaker over all that, with sock cap under my helmet. I was sweating while riding, but when stopped it was just bearable due to 18F and windy. This afternoon should be much nicer since it'll be high 20's.

Yeah, I'm loving platforms with Vans in cold weather, much warmer and tons of room for socks/toe warmers. I know from snowboarding that you want to be able to move your toes to keep them warm and my clipless shoes don't allow for much of that.

That the problem I am having, lack of toe movement with Browning Wool Socks. They keep my feet warm, but the lack of movement is just as bad!. Probably going to pick up a size larger set of shoes for winter riding. I am ok at 40+ degrees with my shoes and regular cold weather socks. But below that, have to go to thicker wool socks. Tried a liner under the winter socks, but that did not help.
