Other Power Factor Pipe Users - Requesting measurements for custom gas tank

You know .... I have a plastic wielder I have not messed with for years . It's not a cheap unit 1200 bucks worth. Anyway a 4x8 sheet of 1/4 inch poly is 86.00 bucks another 20.00 for rods . I might play around with it shortly. You tube plastic wielding . Mine is a www.seelyeinc-orl.com model 63 .

If QM can't help ya, my step-dad is a fabricator in a boat shop and makes fuel tanks on a regular basis. I'm sure I can get it made for under $300, maybe under $200 if you've simplified it enough.

Bingo!

That kind of price range seems legit. I wouldn't pay more than that for any gas tank.

Email me the cad file and I'll run it by him. I can order up some pre-cut panels from my aluminum guy and have my step-dad buzz it together.

I'll PM you my email.

Think I'm going to plastic weld a tank together. That way I can make it exactly the way I want. Worst case scenario I'm out a couple hundred for equipment/material, but I at least have a too size model to check fit in various hulls. Best case, I have a perfect tank. Thrust is taking their sweet ass time apparently. I'd consider their tank, but don't even have the slightest anything about it.

My step-dad is a jet skier too, so he gets it....sorta.

Tyrant, if you want to send me that stuff anyway, I'll take a look. Since I need one as well, I'll put it on my to-do list. If it turns out, I'll know more on time and materials in case the plastic tank doesn't work out.

He already offered to build me a tank when he saw my 2 gallon Blitz can and laughed. I just hadn't gotten around to drawing one up yet.

I was able to measure out the space available in a hurricane hull last weekend. My original measurements from a superfreak would also work in a hurricane. The hurricane had a waterbox with a slight lean inwards on the top. Not sure if that would interfere or not. Worst case scenario I'd have to put a top side indentation of some sorts for it. My plan now is to make the top edge 90* for simplicity. I like the bottom chamfer because it makes the bottom less 'square' and gives you a little more freedom as far as placement since all the hulls I've seen don't have perfectly flat bottoms. I ordered 1/4" hdpe. Think that should be a good thickness. I will order a stock Yamaha fuel neck and cap and test that on the first tank.

Not sure if I'll include a battery holder in my first tank or not. Would like to add some sort of strap hooks somewhere to hold the tank down. Depending on the strength of the tank, I may add internal support to the tank. Don't think it'll be needed but I'm not sure. Will weld the side pieces together first. Then the bottom piece. Finally weld the top piece. Top piece may be tricky since I can only weld the outside edge. Hopefully it won't be an issue. Will only weld the top piece until after the fuel neck and fittings for pickups and breather/return are fitted and snug.

Should have a 3 day weekend next week or week after. Will be working on this like crazy.

Ideas on paper:

Got the HDPE in today with the rods as well. I have the fuel pickups, fuel line, gas caps, and everything I need for the tank, minus the plastic welder. :^/. It's on it's way though. The 1/4 hdpe is a bit thick, but probably perfect for the job, feels strong. Depending on how it turns out strength wise, I'll order 3/16th next.
