True, but I'm thinking about the typical X member that would rather try to build themselves some parts, instead of investing thousands in tooling, etc.

And what exactly is the issue with trying to save some $ and build your own stuff, especially if you are not reselling it? Did hull builders do all the R&D yamaha did to get the bottom shape of the sj hull when they make lightweight hulls with the same bottom as a stocker? :scratchchin:

that is an improvement on an existing product, not a direct copy.

Right, and I would bet money that WCF WDK, etc. never asked Yamaha for any help. They purchased parts, and did their own composite development.

I have no problem with people building their own parts, even if they are similar to others. My issue is when they start asking for help from the guy who made the part they are trying to copy. It would be like asking Coke for their formula, so you can make it at home.

So your issue is not people copying others work, it is people asking manufacturers for advice on building without purchasing the product and then copying it?

never mind, I just read the rest of your response

Reading an entire post before jumping to a conclusion normally helps.

Sorry about that Chris. I was a little quick to post, then wanted to add a quick thought. No harm done. I personally like that people here get innovative, and want to build their own stuff. I build a lot of things myself. I just think that you should do your own development and design work, unless you are being offered a helping hand.

Very few people have the 845 kit, and very few have the Powerfactor pipe. Try it out and let us know.

hell, if you wanted to do that it'd be easier to just buy one and send it to china!

I cant believe the Chinese havnt got a good copy of the factory b pipe yet.Maybe factory pipe wouldnt act like they were worth solid gold if a good copy was out there, normally I dont think its cool, but with these jokers acting like they do,id like to see it happen

The market for B pipes is so small now, it's just not a smart business decision to worry about it, they have much bigger fish to fry.

Interesting subject................I have no problems with somebody wanting to know the volume of the water jacket. When I spec'd out the PowerFactor pipe, I took into consideration wieght. So I have a tighter tolorance between the outter jacket and the innner chamber so there is less water.

As for manufacturing...........yes I could get the exhaust systems made in China for alot cheaper, but I prefer to get them manufactured at a place that has been building aftermarket exhaust for 30 years (Factory Pipe). I am guaranteed they will be right the first time and won't break. The Jet Ski aftermarket parts industry is too small for large qty's.

Example: If I was to have them made over in China, and I ordered 100, they go out to customers and in 6 months they start leaking of breaking, who's going to be bitching then.......yes you the customer. Maybe that bit of extra money would have been well spent.

I think the whole jet ski world should be happy there are still companies willing to make aftermarket jet ski parts.

Sometimes you have to leave it to the profressionals.

Well said. Dealing with a domestic based supplier with experience trumps cheap (china) everyday. It's good for our economy, too!

i have one havent gotten to ride with it broken ankle and sold my polaris motor but i have a superjet on the way eventually i plan on getting cyclinder kit from xmetal to try this pipe out dont really think it will b a good combo with a stock 701 sense its meant for a big bore motor. the pipe isnt heavy for being as big as it is. i would have to say about 10 to 15 pounds at the most 20 with resonator.

OK
I followed this thread for a long time and finaly I spend the last 4 days on the water with this insane pipe in my ski.
I can say that this pipe turned my ski into the new generation Freestyle skis, with a 98% chance to land a flatwater backloop.

Over here in Germany we have one huge problem! Where to ride a ski which is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO loud! I need to train with earplugs in order to be able to hear something after training.

PS: INSANE POWER AND NOISE!!!!!
