I guess since I'm just getting into the sport it still seems impressive to me. Yeah the first couple competetors were a little off, but the others seemed good to me.

I don't see why people making comments how un impressed they are with the sport or how it's the same thing over and over again.

To me most sports are like that. You can watch a 1000 video's of skatebording, or skating, or snowmobiles, snowboarding, bmx, mx. The list goes on and on with all the riders performing the same tricks. Sometimes they land them sometimes they have an off day.

With all those sports mentioned above you can get so much more technical, the terrain is also very different, water is water it can change shape a bit but nothing compared to objects on land and different scenery etc.

Also, when i was refering to an mx bike doing a backy I meant off a ramp, just like I meant you cant do a flatwater backy on a stockish superjet, ocean ya, but this video wasnt in an ocean with waves was it and either is pro freestyle any time.

all those dudes are way better than me on flatwater....

w/ that said

what a complete joke for flatwater guys to have to compete in that horrible mess. I really think we could do better than that place... chop is cool when you are racing, but freestyle... no way

It actually showed who was really good at adapting.

******** adapting... the conditions should always be the same...
this is a professional sport for gods sake, we can't get clean conditions on that lake???... put a god damn barrier up or something... you only need 100ft to do a comp like that anyway..

do ice skaters compete on crappy ice??
does NASCAR race in the rain?
do gymnists compete tired gear and broken equipment??
would a freestyle mx guy jump a ramp that had whoops up it?

NO

ya know why, becuase they are smart enought to know that will only make their sport look stupid.
and they know that it's tough to compete w/ all the xtreme sports.. I tell you what. If about anyone outside jetsking saw that, they would probably laugh if you told them that is the best we can do...

IMO if we want this sport to grow the people in charge should offer a venue that is up too par for professional athletes..

...and no they should not have to adapt or adjust... this kinda stuff is too technical and to land stuff clean and be impressive as possible, you need clean conditions.

No he will not!
A wise Canadian named Paul King once told me that the main difference between pros and ams is that pros must be able to do their tricks in any conditions. I think that is spot on.....that water didn't bother me any, but for the guys that only ride on glass when they practice had a harder time with it......but then again, I only did 2 tricks........and got last place.........which sucks.........I promise I could have done better if I wasn't swimming..........which ended up being fun anyway........and I still got to do a FWBF........it just didn't count for anything :bigok:

And, I watched the Dallas supercross one year after it had rained all day, after the first lap you couldn't tell who was who cuz they were all covered in mud.....less than ideal conditions for them. That is just part of what makes our sport (hobby) what it is IMO.

Bingo................

I still have video from the 2000-2001 WF where Rius, Jacobs, Mac were racing in what looked to be 2-3 foot chop............ You deal with it.......... Not stand on the beach and cry like a freaking baby.

Where nascar stops the race, Indy Car & Formula 1 will throw on rain tires and keep going........... hell, I think Superbike racing will still go on in the rain........

I agree with Parr. In waterskiing we ski in whatever the weather brings. As long as it's not deemed dangerous everyone skis. I jumped at regionals one year in a 30ish mph head wind. Skis chattering so bad you could hardly see the ramp. The worst situation is when the weather changes mid event. Early cometitors may get good conditions while later ones get crap. Just the way it goes.

Well, I feel the guy that took first deserved it, as the double tricks he did really outshown everyone else.

I felt the guy that got third, should have took 2nd, for the no-handed barrel roll, as the guy that took second just did what everyone else did, and nothing they didn't.

From about 6th on up, the runs were pretty good, espically for the conditions.

Still, I would like to see some original tricks developed.

Part of what keeps the best atop the BMX and Moto-X freestyle comps, is the guys come up with new tricks for each year, and it seems that nothing new has come along in Freestyle for a while now.

Not sure what shape a new trick could take, but inovation is what puts you on the top of the ladder, and it would be nice to see a trick that no one else pulled, even if it was not to hard, or technical, the originality of it would more than make up for it, at least IMO.
