Super Jet Project Dance-floor

You are a machine! Most people get burned out long before making that much progress!

Burn out is approaching but I took a good chunk of this week off to combat it. Im getting to the point where compromise is starting to enter my brain but I am trying not to for the projects sake.

I could for instance close up the tray pretty quickly at this point but I acquired a 155 pump, so I really need to make room for that to fit or I will be kicking myself later.

I keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the long run.

I cut out the hole and ground down the excess, blending it in. I can't wait to start building the floor of the Toe Hold. I'm going to build up some foam in the engine bay and start laying glass tomorrow if I get the motivation.

Motivation restored. Built a false floor so I can lay glass on it later today. Once I build the floor section I will remove the foam and stack foam on top of the glass and encapsulate it. Once it cures Ill remove the foam through the toe hold opening.

The typical chopped & rockered superjet builds are pretty cool, but all the little details and different stuff you're doing on this build really set it apart. You're gonna love this ski even if it doesn't ride good. Definitely a unique setup and probably my favorite square build. Keep it up!!

Thank you for the kind words. I think coming at this from a different angle is fun. I saw a lot of phenomenal builds on this site, and some amazing AM hulls, and just sort of picked what I liked from each one and I am throwing it into a ski. Being relatively new to the sport with little in the way of common knowledge is also likely why I am approaching it differently, but as long as it holds together, and is fun to ride, I will call it a win.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement thus far, I am really enjoying building the ski and sharing my progress with all of you.

I stacked up some foam and glued it down with Gorilla Glue and clamped it. I'm not sure if I should leave it square or taper it toward the front.

I shaped the foam and gave it a slight taper with a rounded Edge. I covered it in duct tape and I will prep all the surfaces and trim glass tomorrow. I'm leaving a small amount of the floor of the toehold sticking out as a tab for a mid shaft cover i will make.

It sort of looks like a loaf of bread.

Req, maybe I am missing something, but how do you plan on fitting the motor in with the floor there? I was thinking you were going to make a bubble that protrudes into the existing tray to jam your foot under. You probably measured it all out. Just wondering. Don't forget about the Ebox placement!

It's all going to fit, about a half inch of clearance but it'll fit. Ebox might fit on the toe hold but if push comes to shove I'll put it over by the pipe on the port side like some AM hulls do. Its sort of deceptive in the picture, it does not come past the hood seal.
