Quiet down that X-Metal Waterbox

This weekend I played around with making my Front Only exhaust with X-Metal waterbox a little quieter.

Tip #1. Don't run a flow control valve. This will allow your Box to fill up with more water.

Tip #2. Run one of your cooling pissers to the outlet of the exhuast spraying up the hose toward the water box. I just drilled a hole, and put the pisser in the tip of the exhaust outlet. This little mod seemed to help big time as well.

The results made me very happy.... It turned out being far quieter then a front only Oem Roundnose waterbox setup. I had the quietest boat on the lake for the first time ever.:bigok:

I did loose a a small amount of off idle hit, but i think it should help me ride smother in the surf. For flatwater contests I will run the flow control to get that little bit back.... Its a small price to pay.

Help your friends hear again.

1. You add water to your lightweight waterbox so now it's heavier than a stocker??? Hahaha!!!!!!! It's only about 2.5 pounds lighter to start with.

2.Why don't you add a sprayer to the OE waterbox while still using the FC valve that keeps it dry?

I'm sure you did lose throttle response. A dry waterbox always makes the motor snappier. The best thing you could do is get rid of that loud ass POS and go back to the stocker. It'll make more power and won't get you thrown off the lake. If it's still loud, add a sprayer to the exit.

Because I already have this setup and it works.... Why spend more $ and all that time to go back to stock when I can still dry it out when I want to ride flatwater???? I have a scupper where my rear exhaust use to be.... OEM Box with front exhaust is still to loud for my liking.

the best way to quiet it down is . . . . . . .drumroll please . . . . . .

take it out, reinstall the stock wb and sell it on the X :eek:mfg:

when i switched back to a stock wb from a tdr it took me a while to get used to the sound of my motor...it just sounded slower even though there was no difference...i actually forgot i switched the first time i rode it and was thinking maybe i had an exhaust leak or something, i was on my way in and i remembered.....the quieter the better imo

Ahhh man, I am so stoked with this setup! :woot: Putting all the water in the box just made the power of my ski that much better for surf!

The power just does not hit quite so drastically .... It made it a more Linear power band witch felt smother and more comfortable for surf riding. The power comes on like a Bull from bottom/Mid all the way through, making for a great setup in the surf (for me).

I also think I can concentrate a little better not hearing so much pipe.

I am so over loud a$$ boats, the only time my ski is loud now is on shore after blowing out the water. All ski's are loud when ran dry. imo

Hopefully this thread will quiet down a few people's ski's.

Let me see if I got this right, we all buy Pro Flow Control Valves to aid in drying out our waterboxes for instant throttle response-right??? So-why can't you add a water fitting at the 'T' of a X metal water box injecting a
little water into the outlet only side of the water box hence still keeping the box itself as dry as possible and still getting the full use of your Pro Flow Valve? What am I missing here? Seems logical to me unless the water
going into the outlet side makes no noise suppression.

And the reason I dug this thread up is-I do love my X metal waterbox, but w/my setup the people of the lake are now packing heat and aiming for my azz-therefore-I now have a oem waterbox installed to help keep the peace. I would love to say F'em all, but, the numbers are not in my/our favor.
