rate of growth in freeride jetski?

anyone know of a resource that lists the total sales for yamaha with the superjet yr by yr,these seem to be easy to find for cars.
the superjet is pretty much done, for alot of reasons but in order to complete a/m builds and not have to spend a fortune putting them together with all a/m parts less the hull, motor, pole, pump of course. Im sure yamaha will continue to manufacture those parts as long as they still sell.

Making a good product affordable is top priority in any mainstream market where the numbers are there to support their sales.Right now standup skis are a niche, but it doenst have to stay that way forever with the broader exposure that is coming with more riders involved .Some things are coming in the pipeline that are very affordable.Sure innovators and companies want to make a profit, thats totally possible,I dont think most riders want the best for cheap, they just want better and capable for a reasonable price, thats what will take the sport to the next level on a global level

Besides, whats wrong with the Superjet? Up until just the last few years the Superjet was the gold standard to which all freeride skis were compared to. Now suddenly it's an overpriced POS, when the F did that happen?

I wonder this Myself....

and for the thread.....iv seen more Stand ups in the last year than i had any other...

The thing is also even if a cheaper ski was available everyone still wants the latest greatest next most expensive thing. How many people go and buy the cheapest car on the lot? Then don't do a thing to it? And how many people go buy the most expensive vehical they can finace and still spend money on it making it there own. In my area theres alot of 18 year olds driving a brand new one ton diesels thats lifted with rims ect. That just drive back and forth to work and the bar.

i'm sure the only reason yamaha came out with and still SELLS the 2013/2014 superjet, is because they still have hulls , parts and new skis laying around. any company in their right mind is going to continue to sell inventory that they still have. they werent lying about not making them anymore, they just didnt tell the whole story and continue to sell skis.

Ever heard the phrase "champagne taste on beer wages"?

Not a handout, and that wasn't what I was implying, but what you are asking for is a Corvette for the price of a Mustang.

Besides, whats wrong with the Superjet? Up until just the last few years the Superjet was the gold standard to which all freeride skis were compared to. Now suddenly it's an overpriced POS, when the F did that happen?
Whats wrong with a Superjet? Thats an easy question to answer. A Superjet is limited to barrel rolls, which were the coolest trick until someone did a backflip. The price of being cool went from $3000 to $15,000 instantly. There lies our basic dilemma, "keeping up with the Joneses".

40-45 hours a week is PLENTY!! F 16 hour days!!! Always and forever! Anyone doing them has their priorities wrong IMO. I would quit and be toyless before working 16 hour days.
I use to work from 7-3:30 landscaping, then go workout, then personal train from 5-8, then go home and eat with the wife and then work doors at nightclubs/stripclubs from 9:30-3 and sleep 2 hrs a night for 4-5 days a week. Had all kinds of cash and toys and no time to use em. One job now and one badass jetski works for me now:)

F that!!! I have not worked that hard ^^ but for sure harder than what felt good to me. IMO a good 40 hour job with some sort of mellow side business works really well.

Exactly what Buzz said. I think alottt of people fail to realize they do not need a AM hull. It will not make a bobble head rec rider a back flipper. If the ski it's self is holding you back then thats another story. But im not naming names....there is a few guys local here that have beat craigslit rides they got for $450 and want to build big money freaks next when they ride like 5x a season and can't even hit a wake right or get off the beach without tumbling in the surf 16x. But feel they sure do need a carbon hull.....

Perhaps a bit off topic but this discussion is another example of why I wish the age of the members was displayed under their username. It's human nature to want things that others have but there are young guys on here envious of what older members have and they need to understand that all good things come in time. It's good to want things as it will drive you to accomplish bigger things with your life so you can earn the freedoms that others enjoy. Nice things are an earned privilege and it's unrealistic that a 20 yr old has the same freedoms as say a 40yr old.

Instead of asking for prices to come down, ask senior members like myself how I got to where I am today and how I can afford to do what I do. Ask me what sacrifices I have made.

I don't know how old guys like FPF are but I'm 40, have been working my ass off since I was 14 and am very established. I started off wiring houses at 17 with a high school education, finished a four year Electrical apprenticeship and got a better job. I later completed another 4 year apprenticeship in electrical instrumentation and got a better job again. I kept working hard and advancing and now work for a German automation company that builds and services complex multi axis CNC robotic riveting systems in the aerospace industry. I am currently sitting in front of a machine that is building a wing skin for a Gulfstream G650 corporate jet. It doesn't get any cooler than that. As much as I love this job, I am never complacent and I am always learning new things and trying to advance my skills. As complex as this job is, it is still just another stepping stone in my career.

Don't get me wrong, I made my share of mistakes when I was younger and know what it's like to live check to check under a veil of debt. Thankfully I figured it out, took the long way out of debt and leaned some good lessons that I will not forget any time soon. I have some money put away. I build my 401K and I treat myself to a couple nice things here and there. I drive a vehicle I paid cash for and haven't had a payment in over 12 years. I own a nice house but it is not extravagant or over the top in any way. My wife and I live well within our means and enjoy a good amount of freedom. This is by design and took 20+ years to accomplish and a truckload of self control.

PS: I built my Trinity by selling off all the other toys I had collected over the years. 2 sleds, an ATV, several ski's and a spare truck. Think of it as a consolidation load. I exchanged several smaller nice things for one single really nice thing. I also put in several years on a 92 SN Superjet learning to ride before I ever considered an aftermarket ski.

Nice post! ^ I am 34 and have made many financial mistakes and took me a long time to build my ski to its current setup. It would be cool to have ages listed.

We should throw in race and sexual preference while were at it.

I personally think people are the age they act, but what do I know. I've only spent my entire life not fitting in because I acted more like a responsible 30-40 year old than the idiots that were my age. It's nice to be nearing 30. People are finally starting to catch up and not be bias against me for no reason than their preconceived notions.

Just because a few people are ignorant enough to believe that everything should be free, doesn't mean that we should put a target on the backs of all young people.

There's seldom enough context to make that decision accurately. If I read a naive post and see it's from a 14 yr old, I'm going to take it for what it is and post accordingly. If I see the same post from a 40yr old member, my response is going to be a bit different. I'm not looking to label anyone based on age alone, I'm looking for a simple detail to help put things in a context so I can get a better feel for where the OP is coming from.

I don't think Boyer's intentions were to put a target on the younger generation. It is more as a point of reference for some members who's wants exceed their means.

Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

I just said this on Facebook yesterday- I fear the day when the surfing community finds out just how cool our sport is. More people = more rules = more riding spot closures

More people also means more voices. Our local lake has stopped grooming the shoreline and closed down the hand launch ramp. The ramp was closed most likely because the base had washed out, or because people let their kids play on the ramp because the shore line is not cut nor sprayed anymore. I tried to get the local guys to make a fuss, but everyone felt is wasn't worth it. I'm sure things would go differently if a few dozen people started calling parks and asking them to take better care of the shoreline. We don't need a target on our back, they don't need to know it has anything to do with jet skis. We can claim to be parents, fishermen or larger boat owners. More voices can make a difference. If boats ran on 2-strokes, there would be less bans, but we are a small voice, a voice that can't push a vote. It doesn't cost that much to cut the grass or spray the sea weeds.

My home away from home.
Stand up growth in our area has tripled in the last 2 seasons. Loving seeing them on the water having fun with their friends. We try and say hi to whoever is riding stand ups around here. Basically trying to help keep a positive attitude on the water with everybody.

Im not saying I expect a 1200cc powered carbon ski for under 15K. TC builds top of the line skis, and I would never argue that his prices are out of line. He is building corvettes for the price of a corvette. What I am saying is that I think a large manufacturer could build a LOWER end ENTRY lever ski that is better aimed toward the type of riders that there are today. I don't see why Yamaha couldn't produce a slightly smaller ski to save a little weight, keep a 701 in it, put some footholds on it, add some rocker, and sell it for close to what a SJ already sells for. SJ's may have been the gold standard back when it was all about hood tricks and subs. Times change, just like every single freestyle sport out there. Now it is the gold standard for entry level freestyle....after you add footholds....after you reinforce so you can roll it.....after you add a B bipe to give it a little bump in HP.....after you change the prop.....etc etc. All of those changes could be done at the factory for very little added cost. Look, I bought a brand new SJ and guess what, All I want to do is change it just like every single person on this site has done with their SJ. Its not an entry level freestyle boat anymore. the riding style has changed. The ski should evolve as well, and it hasn't....but I believe it could. I DONT WANT A CORVETTE AT A MUSTANG PRICE, I WANT A MUSTANG AT A MUSTANG PRICE.

Fair enough. Yamaha did make some adjustments in the 08's so it was almost promising for awhile there but they targeted the race crowd more than the freestyle crowd unfortunately.

Even if there was something commercially viable, I think I would still build my own. We are spoiled with options now and regardless of how well put together it is, I'm still gonna want to mod the crap out of it to suit me.
