I forgot!
I have had this before and emailed tech support at msd powersports division and they put it back up and gave me a link ( which is not working now). You don't need the calculator, but it does make it easy.

Yeah i sat down and figured it all out for an hour...

Let me know if im wrong here as i didnt have anything in front of me

29 Initial Advance
Retard begin at 6k
Max speed rev limit @7k (for now)
I have the Retard +15 on
So then i did the MAX SPEED RETARD @ 5/20 (5)

So +15 then + 5 = the 20 degrees of retard i need?

Your 29 is low if thats your static go higher then pull from that, that way if you need more timing you always have the option. I would be running at least 31

Doesnt art have a curve for that motor? You can only take away timing never add it. If your static is 31 thats all you can ever pull. the curve on the back of the brain should be close to what you need just change what rpm you want to start pulling the timing down to suit your needs.

Heres the pic Art sent me, said this one is for 32 degrees.. Is this for race gas or could i get away with it on my pump gas setup?

The numbers are the same as the 29 initial he first gave me except for the MAX Speed Retard? Im quite confused at this point never got a straight answer, the fckn calculator doest work..

Arts words

"7850 rev limiot.

pump gas 29 deg intial.

start to retard 6000

to 7000 rpm at 20 deg"

32 degreee setup...

Ill convert for you...
SW3:
6000 Retard begin speed
S4 - Timing setup off
7750 MAX SPEED REV LIMIT

SW2:
HOLESHOT 6750? All switches on...
MAX Speed Retard 10/25

SW1:

+4000 MAX MIN REV LIM OFFF
MAX 15 degree ON
ELEc START ON
STARRT RETARD ON
RETARD BEGIN +4000 OFF
MAX TIMING = MAX

Timing from one motor manufacturer to another will vary. For example, if I ran the timing that Matt runs in his ski, my motor wouldn't last long at all. My advice would be, run what Art recommends.

Yes, it's your base timing. The timing with nothing taken out. It's a good idea to set your static timing to a race gas setup. This way if you ever run race gas it's already setup. Then just remove timing to suit your current setup.

Static/initial timing is not part of your timing curve. I have my static/initial at 33*. I pull 1* off that with the switches so my curve will be starting at 32*. I hold 32* until 5500 rpm then pull out enough timing at my rev limiter of 8500 so that at 7200 rpm I will maintain 17* of timing. This curve is going to pull a lot of timing very quickly as I hit my rev limiter. I think I am running 4-5* at 8500 which means I used the switches to remove 27*. The calculator will help you design a curve using variables of when you start pulling timing, to your rev limiter. Maintaining 17* at the 7000-7200 rpm is important for not allowing pre ignition/deto on my stock stroke pump gas motor.

P.S. The website does not allow curse words so try and not use loop holes to use harsh language. It won't get you anywhere.

Yeah the calculator is nice and all but i have no calculator to base it upon as they've changed the website.

Im hoping people here can help out,

I have all my start retard, max rpm etc.. I just need to know how to take out the timing. Its based off of the MAX SPEED RETARD correct?

I need "max speed retard is 7000 and need 20 degrees " according to art

P.S this is my build thread, i can say what i want within reason, swearing wont get me anywhere, why would i want to go anywhere when im already in my build thread... lol

Dude, just call msd. They have a helpline for these reasons. I also believe they have made the calculator private and you
Need to call them for the link.
