Rickter FS-1 (vs) Other Lightweight Hulls

I have yet to physically see anything less than 100% perfect from the guy.....and I would say I have seen maybe 2 dozen of his parts/hulls in my/myfriends driveway and/or various free rides. All perfect and solid and original. All badazz!!!

I will buy another hull from him someday....probably a FX-1 Pro full carbon.

Do it twice?That's DooDoo
I have to say I cant believe Jeff's hood has stood up to some of the stuff I've done... only bad thing seems to be something fishy with living up to promises on orders... but its like an intermittant problem it seems... I'd pay w/ credit card and if it was too late I'd get the funds back...

I think his hoods are amazing AND the price is right....not just amazing for the price. It is full quality with a fair price IMO.

I've seen good & bad from Jeff. Seems to be a mixed bag.
Only my footholds and one hood (not mine) are decent. The rest of them, not so.
My Diablo hood is heavy, does not fit right (too wide) and has cracks. The liner has been re-glued.
One hull I've seen had cracking (it was fairly new).
I can't say they're "amazing" for the price, but rather, right on par for the price. I have no issue with that - you get what you paid for, and I knew that going in.

If I were in the market for an aftermarket hull or another hood, I'd look at XFT and Trinity.

Butti bought a WDK hull a couple of years ago, and he's a supporter, so I guess it's holding up.

Riverrat's X-jet, not so great. flacarncycleguy's X-jet, not so great. superramjet had some issues with his REV I think. I think the 2 REV's in Nashville are doing ok, afaik.

Just to let everyone know, our fiberglass version is between 82 to 85 lbs. Our Kevlar version is between 75 to 77 lbs. All our hulls are hand laid and use premium vinyl ester resins and an elaborate laminate schedule.

From all my years of riding and building hulls, I have learned quite alot. I ride my equipment very hard every weekend as many that has seem me ride have witnessed. I know what is necessary to make a hull that can withstand punishments and put that knowledge into every hull that I build. I don't claim to be the "best" hull builder but I do take alot of pride in what I do.

Brian and Toby's have not held up that great. (Rev's) I may be wrong, but I think one may have or is being replaced (warranty).

Yea Jeff will be all over that. I cant believe everyone is still sticking up for this guy and his garbage. :jester:

I should have my new replacement hood in about ohhh... 3 yrs ago!

Everyone who has had parts fail are just scared to come out and say it, in hope that some day Jeff will live up to his word and warranty.

Thats the truth!

i think the WDK basing has been done enough.. this thread dont need to be polluted with it too...

.. personally im interetsed in learing more about ALL of the aftermarket hulls, specs, pros, cons etc...

Ok, then call the manufactures. Talk to them, they have all the answers you are looking for.

Ask lots of questions, WHat resin? What materials? What Weight? How much abuse will it take? Do all of your hull versions weigh within a couple pounds of each other? Do you have any pro riders? How many hulls have you built this year? Listen to what they have to say. Try to figure out if they are full of BS or if they actually know what the he// they are talking about.

There is only so much info people want to post on the net.

Good luck, it's shady territory out there. :sadwavey:

LOL...that is exactly what I got out of that too. It took like 3 months to get my hull and it was well worth it. I mean you can't expect it to much quicker than that from anyone, right? Unless they just make a bunch and stockpile them which I would never do if it was me.

I have contacted a couple of the manufactures this week, will not say who due to the obvious reasons. But, none of them would go into detail as far as hull thickness ( how many layers) they will however tell you that they are this weight. If I buy an aftermarket hull, I want to know everything about their layup. I am not looking to steal their ideas, but if paying more than a months wages for a light weight hull, I need more info from them. Neither one of the companys I spoke with wouldnt even talk about their material either. They just said top quality fiberglass and resin. Hello, which ones. Sorry to vent to everyone here, its just annoying.
