RICKTER talk

any issues with the thrust innovations ez drain anyone?
how difficult is it to take out the factory scupper ring that needs to be removed from the hull in order to install the thrust ring?
any hull damage trying to remove it?
any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the hull around the hole?

Looks BRUTAL to take out the old ring. My factory scupper has a little dry rot and even cracks but surprisingly it still seals up. I pulled the hood off in the river yesterday and it wasn't taking on any water. little worried but i only ride flat water and the season is almost over, I always hold it shut if i'm floating beside the ski just to be %100 safe. off season project!

It wasn't a hard job as much as it was scary to work on an expensive hull. A new rubber flapper is only $20 or so from JM, might be good to get a spare.

Currently customizing my new trailer and wondering what everyone's doing for bow stops? If anything at all? I don't exactly want rubber wearing through the paint on my ski. Thanks

You could use one strap pulling forward on the bow and use another strap pulling backwards on the bow. This way you don't need a bow stop and won't have anything touching your hull.

Never had a problem with scupper on either of my rickters. If anything I'd jam a tennis ball in it from the inside. Don't really need one at all. Even thought of glassing mine shut. And I ride surf do flips/rolls often. Scupper is mainly for flatwater guys linking combos imo.

I only rip flat water but its a mild ski so no crazy combos, mostly chasing boats at the river or lake. Mines just on its way out so looking for some piece of mind if my ski were to ever spend some time upside down or have the original fall off.

Do you have a bilge pump? Won't keep up with a ripped off scupper flap, but it would help and also let you know if its leaking.

What's length of 2016+ short ride plate ?

I found a good deal on a second hand (un used) medium and deciding if it's worth cutting my current medium to make it short. It's ugly already anyway

No bilge. Current scupper has some dry rot and cracking so I'm looking to deal with it before it disappears.

Don't ever trust flap scupper. It will break sooner or later and ski will sink fast as soon as you slow down or stop moving.
Buy the OVP scupper from Elprofessor. It is direct fit for rickters and you don't need to modify anything on your ski. Just spray the outside O-ring with WD40 and slide the scupper from inside. Tighten up the Allen pin screws and you are done. You may consider putting a strainer on the inside end of the scupper tube in case if you drop a bolt or nut that may get stuck on the scupper valve.

Does he have a site or away order one from him. Sounds like a good idea!

Fabbed up a bow stop mount system for my rickter and SJ on my single couch trailer. Picked up the stop from the jet ski store.com, cut the bottom to an "H" to clear the D ring and padded it up with some 18mm plush underpaid. I also put a clear 3M protection film to stop paint damage to the nose. Design was inspired from a few other guys on the forums. Nothing to fancy but its safer and works!
