Just buy the tomski one. It’s better anyway. Support American made products instead of the copycats overseas
I have had one of Tom's. Nothing wrong with it. But considering I have a Rickter Edge, what hull did they copy cat??????????? I also did not have to turf or pad it. I have turf but no pad. So I would have had to purchase a half a sheet of padding....... Shipping on said pad............... It was cheaper in the end to go with the one that matches my hull.......

Searched and cant find so here comes question that everyone hates:

What are weights of 2021 hulls? Specifically the Edge FS vs FR

I know you are gonna say weight doesnt matter for surf and I agree but Im coming off a carbon superfreak that I split between lake parties with boat wakes and surf. I know the FS is lighter layup but dont know by how much. Im not a pro rider and at 47 I'm not trying to send to the stratosphere so I'm thinking the lighter FS may be right for me.

I’d say “it doesn’t matter” also. As an example, I have a carbon g2 xfs And a full glass xfr. The xfr still flat water flips easily being 310lbs. It just is slower to rotate. But it’s super fun to chase boats etc. and I haven’t even got to ride the surf with it yet. Should be a blast. Running a dasa 950 b-pipe 155 torrent pump gas and charging system it’s a great all around ski. To me the carbon core is more risky for only 10# of weight savings

I think they over build them all. Has anyone ever broken a Rickter? I haven't heard of any. Only thing that comes to mind is excessive bottom wear from years of beaching with no poops given.

So are we talking 140 pounds versus 130 pounds? My freak is 65 pounds so you can see it's going to be a drastic change.

I have also heard they are doing away with hybrid this year and only making full glass or full carbon from now on.

Why bot get an xfr then. In glass built in at 305-310lbs. Removable sponsons also. Keep in mind you’ll have to buy used for wait a long time to get a new one. I believe they are min 6 month wait.

Because they ride a lot slower in surf and I want something that I can shred waves with instead of just bobbing around waiting for a wave to hit like I do now. I ride surf way more than the lake but I've seriously considered it though.

The hybrid models, ones with fiberglass and carbon, were only special builds for pro riders, but built for strength over lightness.
the FS layup is just less fiberglass and resin, no carbon. The carbon core uses a fiberglass core material, no actual carbon. Mostly a marketing thing but reduced the weight of the fiberglass hulls by approximately 20-30 lbs.

You could get a carbon look which the outside is carbon, not sure how this affects strength or weight but doubt it does either.

I have a full carbon FS2, 2012, and the layup is pretty heavy in comparison to today’s carbon hulls. I’m guessing it’s 85 lbs but that weight works really well. It feels quite a bit more nimble than a fiberglass Edge. My 2015 Edge, Abraham Hostrassers old ski is reinforced fiberglass with carbon. It’s super solid but doesn’t feel like a tank. Rides great in the surf. Unsure of the weight but it’s not light.

I ordered a new 21 Edge in the standard FR layup. That’ll be good, will last forever and the extra weight makes for a smooth ride in the chop and surf.

I would just buy full carbon as 85# sounds perfect but that $10000 price tag is hard to swallow. Lol
